    Guetzmacher, Fra nklin C.Franklin C. Gruetzmacher, age 91, of Hortonville, was taken to his heaven ly home on February 24, 2006, after a short battle with pancreatic cance r. Franklin was born on July 30, 1914, in the Township of Caledonia, the y oungest child of Charles and Elise (Robe) Gruetzmacher. He graduated fr om New London High School in 1932.Franklin proudly served his country in Australia, the East Indies and N ew Guinea during World War II with the U.S. Fifth Army Air Force from 1941 -1945. On June 1, 1946, he was united in marriage to Verna B. Tank. Togeth er they farmed in the Township of Hortonia. He was recognized for 15 yea rs of service with the U.S. Dept. of Agriculture, Agricultural Stabilizati on and Conservation Committee in 1973 and was given an award for farm impr ovement and outstanding accomplishments in soil and water conservati on by the Outagamie County Bankers Association.Franklin also served as Township Assessor for several years. Franklin a nd Verna moved to Hortonville upon retiring in 1973. He was a member of t he American Legion and a faithful member (60 years) of Bethehem Ev. Luther an Church. He loved to travel and visit his children and grandchildren. Ga rdening and fishing brought special pleasure to his life.He is survived by his two sons: Charles (Penny), Walworth, WI; and Thom as (Laura), Stillwater, MN; three daughters: Marlene (Mel) Kam, Steilacoo m, WA; Mary (CT) Aufdemberge, Flagstaff, AZ; Marsha (Kent) Abernathy, Norf olk, NE; four grandsons: Brian and Michael (Lyndsay), Ryan Kam, and Kyle A bernathy; six granddaughters: Marissa and Mandy Abernathy, Laurel Kam, Sar ah Gruetzmacher and Maria and Krista Gruetzmacher. A special thank y ou to nieces, Ardes Kohl and Carol Huebner and nephew Ivan Gruetzmacher, f or their support during his recent illness. Other survivors include his co usin Irma Hintz, many nieces, nephews; other relatives and many friends.
    Preceding him in death were his parents, wife, Verna, two brothers: Ruf us and John; five sisters: Elsie Wangelin, Esther Radtke, Alma Gruetzmache r, Erna Olson and Edna Humann.
    The family extends a special thank you to the staff that cared for Frankl in at St. Joseph Residence in New London. Funeral services will be he ld at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, February 28, 2006, at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Chu rch with Rev. Ralph Rosenberg officiating. Burial will take place at St. J ohn's Cemetery in the Township of Caledonia. Friends may call at the Borch ardt & Moder Funeral Home in Hortonville on Monday, February 27, 2006, fr om 3-8 p.m. and at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the ho ur of services. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Franklin's na me is being established at Bethlehem Ev. Lutheran Church and School.
