He is survived by his widow, Mary Romenesko VanderSteen; four sons, Cl ifford, Eugene, Jerry and Tom, all of Kaukauna; a brother, Frank, of Askea ton; two sisters, Mrs. Leda Vandomolen, of Ontario Canada, and Mrs. Marc ia Verstegen, of Little Chute; and 12 grandchildren. The funeral wi ll be at 10:00 a.m. Monday at St. Mary Catholic Church, Kaukauna. Burial w ill be in the parish cemetery.

    Hawley, Shirley Mae: Shirley Mae Hawley, 65, of Silver Cliff, died Thursday evening June 8, 2006. She was born July 12, 1940, in Allouez, Wis., the daughter of Joseph and Minnie (VanDerSteen) VanDenElzen. Shirley graduated from East Green Bay High School in 1958. She was employed at Hoida Lumber Co. after high school. On April 11, 1959, she married Bue (Norbert) Kornowske. The couple had two daughters, Cheryl and Colleen. Shirley was employed at Ford Howard in Green Bay. She married Francis H. Schaut on Dec. 14, 1968, and they had two sons, Fran, Jr. and Nick. During this time she worked for the U.S. Post Office. Her husband Francis preceded her in death. On October 17, 1981, she married Robert (Bob) Hawley. The moved to the Silver Cliff area in 1989. Shortly after, Shirley started a business in Wausaukee called the Blue Delft Bar and Restaurant Supply, which she still operated at the time of her death. Shirley enjoyed flower and vegetable gardening and playing cribbage. She was very active in her community, being a member of the Silver Cliff Fire and Rescue Squad Auxiliary, the American Legion Ladies Auxiliary, serving as President of the Silver Cliff Cemetery Committee and as a charter member of the Silver Cliff Park Committee.

    Donald W. "Musky Don" Lenz, Little Chute, died unexpectedly Thursday, Oct. 12, 2006. He was 82. Don was born in Little Chute to the late Joseph and Harriet (Vander Steen) Lenz on June 22, 1924. He served in the Navy during WWII and was a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258, Little Chute. On January 3, 1947, Don married Gladys Lenhart at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, where he was a lifelong member. In three months, they would have celebrated 60 years of marriage. He worked at Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company for 33 years before retiring in July, 1986. Don was an avid Cribbage player and greatly enjoyed playing Tuesday's at Jeanne's Bar in Sherwood. His good friends Louie Thein Jr. Wirth and Sardine Wydeven joined him in these games. The stakes were high, with the first game for a hamburger - although they would sometimes bring their own slice of cheese. With lunch out of the way, subsequent games were played for two dollars. Don also enjoyed playing in his Wednesday night league at Gentleman Jack's with his partner Jim Lund. He spent many summers fishing at his cottage in Phelps. It was always the talk of the town when "Musky Don" returned. He also enjoyed flowers, gardening and helping Brandon with handy work around his home.
    Don is survived by his wife of 59 years, Gladys; one son, Michael (special friend Diana) Lenz, Little Chute; two daughters, Pamela (special friend Steve) Behling, Appleton, and Julie (Rodney) Jansen, Combined Locks, seven grandchildren, Traci (Mike) Schuh, Ben (Ann) and Linsey Behling, Jessie (Carrie), Kari (fiance Pete), Mark and Dan Lenz and Brandon Duchow; six great grandchildren, Olivia and Connor Schuh, Shawnna, Carly, Braydon and Cody Lenz; two brothers, Norm (Helen) and Joe Lenz; and one sister, Clara (Hank) Baumann.
    In addition to his parents, Don was preceded in death by his son Gary and brother James.
    The Funeral Mass will be at 5 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 17, 2006, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, with Rev. Patrick Beno officiating.     Norman Joseph Lenz, Little Chute, age 88, passed away on Saturday October 4, 2014 at Parkside Care Center with his family at his side. He was born in Little Chute to Joseph and Harriet (Vander Steen) Lenz on February 5, 1926. Norm joined the Navy and served in the Pacific in WWII. He was employed at Thilmany for 45 years. Norm was an avid fisherman and hunter and excelled in bowling. After he retired he enjoyed walking, biking and visiting the Environmental Center. But his real passion was his grandchildren. He was filled with pride when attending their many sporting events and school functions.
    Norm married Helen Zacharias on August 10, 1963 and their marriage was blessed with four wonderful daughters and ten fantastic grandchildren. He is survived by his wife and daughters: Jane (Greg) Eiting, Janet (Rob) Sager, Joan (Mike) Sturm and Judy (Ray) Buchinger. The grandchildren who were so loved by Grandpa are Tim, Matt and Adam Eiting, Sam and Jennifer Sager, Emily and Kimberly Sturm and Nicole, Hope and Quinn Buchinger. Also surviving are Norm's sister, Clara Baumann; sisters-in-law: Gladys Lenz, Carla Zacharias and Ann Ehnerd; and brothers-in-law: Dick (Joyce) Zacharias and Tom (Mary) Stilp. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

    Joseph F. "Joe" Lenz, Little Chute, July 28, 1927 - May 11, 2013.
    On Saturday, May 11, instead of attending 4:30 Mass at St. John's, Joe was called to meet his Savior in person. He died peacefully in his sleep at the age of 85.
    Joe was born in Little Chute where he grew up and graduated from St John High School. His love for art began in high school where he worked on the school yearbooks. Following in his brothers' footsteps, Joe enlisted in the U.S. Navy near the end of WWII and remained active in the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post 258. He was proud to have participated in a WWII Honor Flight last summer. Joe married his high school sweetheart, Mary Verhagen, and raised five children. Although the marriage ended, Mary and her family were always an important part of his life. She preceded him in death on August 15, 2004. Joe's working career was as an electrician at the Kimberly-Clark and Wisconsin Tissue mills. In his final years, he moved back to Little Chute and enjoyed walks down by the river where he played as a child. Watching the mill come down and the windmill go up, visiting with old friends and enjoying time with his family were favorite pastimes.
    Joe was a loving, gentle and humble soul. His children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren were blessed to have him in their lives. His relatives were all just part of the family. Neighbors and coworkers became lifelong friends. A true renaissance man, Joe was forever inventing, researching, fixing, painting, drawing, planting, building and just tinkering. He loved his family, his friends, the outdoors, fishing, camping, researching everything, genealogy, a game of horseshoes, bowling, boating, playing cards, a good polka and, of course, the Packers.
    Joe will be greatly missed by his children: Carol Lenz, Appleton; Mary Filen, Casa Grande, AZ; Laurie (Jon) Ford, Summerfield, NC; Steven (Jean) Lenz, Shiocton; and Tim (Stacy) Lenz, Appleton; grandchildren: Tyler, Mikel, Eric (Jen), Beckie (Blayne), Brian, Robin (Aaron), Jennifer, Shanti, Alexa and Kaylee; great grandchildren: Drew, Hayden, Annabelle, Elijah, Taylor, Lilah, Silas, Cambria, Erika, Jamyson and Mia; and brother and sister: Norm (Helen) Lenz and Clara Baumann; sisters and brother-in-law: Gladys Lenz, Lorraine Wilson and Marty (Judy) Verhagen. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Joe was preceded in death by his parents, Joseph F. and Harriet (Van Der Steen) Lenz; father and mother-in-law: Martin and Ann Verhagen; son-in-law: Jack Filen; brothers: Jim (Mary and Helen) and Don Lenz; and brother-in-law: Henry Baumann; other relatives and friends.
    Visitation will be held Monday May 20, 2013 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 S. Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 2:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev Msgr.     Donald J. Vander Steen, Greenleaf, age 64, died Sunday December 2, 2012 at Appleton Medical Center. He was born on April 22, 1948 to the late Frank and Helen Vander Steen in Green Bay. Following his graduation from Wrightstown High School, Don entered the Air Force in 1964. He served as a medic on the front lines in Vietnam. Don retired from the City of Green Bay as a building inspector in 2010. He thought highly of the many people he worked with at City Hall, Police and Fire Departments.
    Don is survived by his siblings: Ronald (Frances) of Canada; Bernard (Nancy) of Kaukauna; Kenneth of Menasha; and Carol Van Eperen of Little Chute; and nieces and nephews: Bob, Ken (Sheila) and Mark (Terri) Vander Steen, Sharon (Wayne) Chernow, Karen (George) Demonakos, Lori (Steve) Andres, Gary (Bernetta), Bruce (Jeanne) and Brian (Karen) Van Eperen. He is further survived by many great nieces and nephews, cousins and friends, including his faithful dog Hannah.

    Eugene Van Der Steen, of Kaukauna, age 75, died on Thursday, August 30, 2007, at Brewster Village. He was born March 24, 1932, in Little Chute, the son of the late Harold and Mary (Romenesko) Van Der Steen. On August 27, 1953, at St. Mary Catholic Church, Kaukauna, he married Angela De Goey. Stony served in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict. He was the owner and operator of Van Der Steen Electric for over 40 years. Stony was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, Kaukauna American Legion Post 41 and Kaukauna Electric City VFW Post 3319. He enjoyed the Packers, camping at Berry Lake and woodworking. Stony loved spending time with family and friends and his grandchildren all have a "treasure" that grandpa made in his workshop.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years: Angela Van Der Steen, Kaukauna; children: Sue Van Thiel, Ken (Wendy) Van Der Steen and Amy (Dan) Doolittle, all of Kaukauna; daughter-in-law: Tina (Rob) Romportl, Kaukauna; 16 grandchildren: Ryan (Becky), Alyssa (fiance Mark) and Brett (special friend Sam) Van Thiel; Jennifer, Michelle, David and Steven Van Der Steen; Billy, Tyler, Cody, Danny and Kaylyn Van Der Steen; Leah and Eric Van Der Steen; Michelle and Kyle Doolittle; 3 brothers: Clifford (Diane) Van Der Steen, Menasha; Jerry (Carol) and Tom Van Der Steen, both of Kaukauna.     Jesse L. Van Der Steen, Appleton, age 23, died unexpectedly on Wednesday December 6, 2006, as a result of a car accident. Jesse was born January 4, 1983, to Kevin and Patricia (Krueger) Van Der Steen in Appleton. Jesse attended grade school in Appleton and Grand Rapids, MI. He completed his schooling at Forest Hills High School and Kaukauna High School. Jesse worked at Sturm Foods as a forklift driver. He will be remembered for his easy going friendly personality and his genuine smile. Jesse enjoyed playing baseball, Basketball, wake boarding, jet skiing, rafting, fishing, camping and shooting pool. He was well know throughout the Fox Cities and will be dearly missed by all who knew him.
    He is survived by his mother, Patricia (Jon) Horn; his father, Kevin (Judy) Van Der Steen and their children, Kelton Hatton and Sandy (Kenny) Hatton; his sister, Stephanie (Jake) Heaton and her daughter, Serena; grandparents, Mary Krueger; Clifford ( Diane) Van Der Steen; and Al (Shirley) Horn. He is further survived by aunts and uncles: Chris Van Der Steen, Lucy (Mike) Schumann, Georgia (Terry) Riggles, Mike (Chris) Krueger, Dave Krueger, Christine (Larry) Krueger, Mary Sue (William) Carlson, Stephanie (Jim) Mikl, Rachel (Brad) Nolan and Mark Horn as well as many nieces, nephews and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his brother, Kevin K. Van Der Steen, his grandfather, Leo E. Krueger and his aunt, Katherine Horn
    Jesse's Memorial Mass will be 11 a.m., on Wednesday, December 13, 2006, at the HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna, with Fr. Jack T. Mullarkey officiating. Friends will be received on Wednesday, at Church from 10 a.m., until the time of service. Viewing and visitation for Jesse will be SUNDAY, December 10, 2006, from Noon until a 4 p.m. prayer service to end the evening at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna.     Miah M. Van Der Steen, Kaukauna, age 13 died peacefully on Sunday, June 11, 2017 at St. Vincent Hospital, Green Bay following a courageous battle with cancer. She was born October 9, 2003 in Appleton, WI daughter of Jason Van Der Steen and the late Jaime Petrie and also her adoptive mother, the late Ann "Anni" Van Der Steen. Miah was an "A" Student of the 7th grade at Riverview Middle School in Kaukauna. She participated in many sports, such as track, horseback riding, hunting and fishing. Miah enjoyed spending time with her siblings Ava and Jacob and her extended family and friends.
    She is survived by her father, Jason Van Der Steen; sister, Ava, brother, Jacob, both at home; grandparents: Mark Van Der Steen (special friend April), Vickie Miller (special friend Rob),Bruce (Mickey) Petrie, Jacque Dresang, and Dave (Mary) Halbach; great-grandparents: Carol (Jerry) Van Der Steen, Paul (Eileen) Petrie, Marie Miller, and Berniece Young; three uncles and an aunt: Paul (fiancée Kristen), Jay, Gary, and Angie (Ed) Gonnering. She is further survived by numerous other friends and relatives.
    She was preceded in death by her mothers: Jaime Petrie and Anni Van Der Steen; grandfather, Al Young, great-grandfathers: Jerome Miller and Ronald Young, great-grandparents: Bob and Evelyn Hopfensperger.
    Funeral services for Miah will be at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday, June 15, 2017 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH at ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 West Seventh St., Kaukauna with Fr. Jerry Pastors officiating.
