    Biography:
ANDREW FISCHER. Outagamie county is indebted to Germany for many of her loyal and substantial citizens, and among these Andrew Fischer, who is engaged in agricultural pursuits in Center township, takes high rank. He is a son of Martin Fischer, who came to this country at the close of the War of the Rebellion, bringing his wife and son, the latter then nineteen years old. Mrs. Fischer who bore the maiden name of Thullia Fischer, died when Andrew was a youth, and Mr. Fischer had married again. Landing at New York, the family came direct to Outagamie county, where Martin Fischer purchased seventy-four acres of land in the woods of Center township, on which a log house was located. This property has now become one of the fertile, productive farms of the township, and the numerous improvements have caused it to advance in value year by year. Beginning as a stretch of heavily timbered soil, on which it was next to impossible to plant a paying crop, a part was soon put under cultivation by Martin Fischer and his son, and when once the start had been made the advance was rapid. Substantial buildings have been erected, fences built and the land graded and drained, and is now considered one of the valuable tracts of Center township. Martin Fischer lived on this property until his retirement in 1897, at which time he moved to Mackville, and there his death occurred in 1907.
Andrew Fischer was born June 14, 1847, in Germany, and he secured all of his schooling in his native country. Since coming to America he has always worked on a farm, and has been energetic and progressive, still carrying on the active duties of the home place despite the fact that he was injured severely in a runaway accident several years ago. His good management of the affairs of the farm have made possible the adding to its acreage, and he is considered a representative farmer and good citizen. In 1877, Mr. Fischer was married to Elizabeth Schmidknuz, daughter of Charles Schmidknuz, a farmer of Center township, and they have had seven children: Annie, Theresa, Charles, Frank, Louise, Joseph and Emma. Mr. and Mrs. Fischer belong to St. Edward's Catholic Church at Mackville.

Andrew married Schmidknuz, Elizabeth 16 May 1876, Center, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA. Elizabeth was born 5 Feb 1859; died 30 Sep 1943, Apple Creek, Outagamie, Wisconsin, USA. [Group Sheet]

    Obituary:
Florence H. Garvey Greenville Florence Helen Garvey, age 90, formerly of rural De Pere passed away peacefully with family members at her side at Living Tree Estates in Greenville on Friday March 20, 2009. She was born June 8, 1918 in Stenen, Saskatchewan, Canada, daughter of the late Patrick and Theresa (Fischer) Wallace. Florence was well traveled in her early years; first residing in Canada where the family owned and operated a wheat farm. When she was five years old the family moved westward. Florence arrived in the United States by ship arriving in Portland Oregon in 1923. The family then traveled on to California where her father owned and operated an orange grove. She told us many stories of playing in the orange trees with her siblings and of excursions to the nearby Pacific Ocean. They later moved to Wisconsin where her father was a cheese maker in the Town of Freedom at Murphy's Corners. She graduated from Freedom High School in 1936. Florence married Mike Garvey on February 22, 1938. Together they raised nine children, built their own home and spent their lives dairy farming and raising and nurturing their family. Florence was a wonderful homemaker, her bakery and cooking skills are the family benchmark; she was always called on to bring the baked goods at family gatherings. Florence was a wonderfully patient woman slow to anger and very hard working, and caring for her family was her first priority. Her gardening and canning skills were legendary also; it was always amazing when unexpected guests would call, Florence would soon have a wonderful meal prepared for them as if it appeared out of nowhere, you never left her table hungry. Guests were forbidden to leave without being fed. Florence's survivors include her children Tom (Donna)Garvey of Oneida, Beverly Manning of Bosque Farms NM, Phyllis (Mike) Randerson of Appleton, John Garvey of Roosevelt, AZ , Mary Ellen Patterson of Phoenix AZ. Mark Garvey of Oneida, Michael (Vonnie) Garvey of Freedom and Colleen Garvey of Green Bay. There are 30 grandchildren and 26 great grandchildren and her last remaining sibling Clarence (Delores) Wallace of Appleton. She was preceded in death by her husband Mike, her daughter Barbara Garvey her son in law Arthur Manning, sisters Viola (Henry) Seegers, Irene (Jess) Mason, Regina (Ray) Garvey, Louise Wallace, brothers: Raymond, Eugene, Leo, and Kenneth Wallace. Following graduation from Appleton High School in 1938, Virginia worked for the Beanie Benz Hardware Store on College Ave. in Appleton and attended the Appleton Community Business College prior to her marriage. After marriage, she worked with her husband, Norbert in his accounting business until his death in 1971. Virginia was a member of St. Mary's Catholic Church, a member of the St. Mary's Christian Mothers, and helped with the hot lunch program at St. Mary's Grade School. She was a Girl Scout (with her mother being the first Girl Scout leader in Appleton), and a Girl Scout leader for both of her daughters for over ten years. She was a charter member of St. Bernard Catholic Church Appleton, and an active member of the St. Bernard Mission Group-making quilts for the homeless and needy, and the Women of St. Bernard. She loved playing cards with the St. Bernard card group on Monday afternoons.
She was the founding member of the Crossroad Homemakers group (1949) in the Town of Grand Chute and current member for over 60 years. Virginia was a founding member of the Appleton Gallery of Arts, later the Center for Visual Arts of Appleton, now known as the Trout Museum. She took oil and watercolor painting, and weaving classes at Lawrence University, the old Appleton Vocational School and the Appleton Visual Arts Center. She loved the Lawrence Symphony, the Fox River Symphony and the Attic Theater. She sewed costumes for the Attic theater group for several productions. She volunteered at the historical Grignon Mansion in Kaukauna, and was active in the Outagamie Historical Society, and the Fox Valley Genealogical Society, researching her family roots to Wisconsin state-registered pioneer ancestry. She loved folk dancing and was part of the HOPA International Fox Valley Folk Dance Group. Several summers were spent in Door County at various Folk Dancing workshops. She was active with the Thompson Center Line Dancers and was an avid bowler, bowling in a couple's league with her husband for many years and on a woman's league until she was 84 years old. Virginia also took several cooking classes at the Fox Valley Technical School. Virginia loved swimming, bicycling, gardening, bowling, line dancing, folk dancing, sewing, painting, playing piano, playing cards and enjoyed going to lunch with her many friends and relatives. She also enjoyed traveling throughout the United States, Canada and Mexico with her family, and also to Europe and Egypt.
She and her husband, Norbert, loved the seven acres of wooded property purchased just west of Appleton where they designed and built their home when they moved back to Appleton in 1949 and where they both lived until their time of deaths.
Virginia was preceded in death by her parents, her grandparents Theodora (Lohman) and Julius Vogt and Elizabeth (Schmdtkunz) and Andrew Fischer; great grandparents Francesca and John Lohman, Anna and Frank Vogt, Theresa and Martin Fischer and Margaret and Charles Schmidtkunz. She was further preceded in death by her husband Norbert Derridinger (1971), her sister, Joanne Keuler (1986), and her brother, Carlton Fischer (2001); brother in laws Jake Heimbach, Mark Keuler, and Frank Stilp; sisters in law Jean Fischer and Jackie Fischer (Beckwith).
She is survived by her children: Barbara D. (John F) Bell; Julian Derridinger all from Appleton; and Carla (David) Omachinski (Oshkosh) and two grandchildren: Kim Omachinski (Springfield, IL) and Scott Omachinski (Chicago, IL). She is also survived by her sisters: Germaine Heimbach (Kaukauna) and Judy Stilp (Neenah) as well as many nieces and nephews.
She was dedicated to her extensive family [daughter, sister, wife, mother, grandmother and aunt] and was always helping someone. She possessed many creative talents and could use them to the delight of all who knew her. She always offered a caring hand to those in need, always had a gentle smile, and was a true Christian to everyone she met. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Her mass of Christian burial will be held at St. Bernard Catholic Church, Appleton on Thursday September 8, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held from 9:00 a.m. until time of service. Burial will be at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery, Appleton.
The family would like to thank the Memory Care staff at Touchmark on Prospect and the Aseracare Hospice staff for their loving care and attention. A memorial fund has been established. Please send contributions in Virginia's name to a family member.

    Obituary:
Michael J. Randerson Jr., age 44, passed away unexpectedly March 2, 2011, at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born in Appleton on June 17, 1966, the only son of Mike and Phyllis (Garvey) Randerson.
Michael was very caring, personable and fun loving and people generally took an immediate liking to him. This attribute served him very well as he interacted with customers in the various jobs he had all through his life. Michael genuinely loved people and had the ability to make them feel his interest in them.
His passion was music, first playing the clarinet, and later he became an accomplished piano player who loved to sit and play for relaxation. He was the piano player at his church for many years, the pastor often lovingly referred to him as "Fingers Randerson." We remember his music reverberating through the house as he practiced; he would not give up until each piece was exactly the way he wanted.
He also loved animals, particularly cats, and had a faithful feline companion. "keek monster", who ran his household for 17 years. He loved stock car racing and was involved with his best friend John Anthony's racing team. One of Michael's favorite memories was being part of the WIR 1990 championship team. He started out in 1978 as a young man helping in the family race car business (Rander-Car Racing) sweeping floors and gradually progressed to managing parts sales and manufacturing inventory. The family business was sold in 1992 and he moved on to several other jobs in the area.
Michael spent all of his life in the Appleton area until 2002 when he relocated to Canton, Ohio with his long-time friend and trusty side-kick Jeneen Liebergen. While living in Ohio he was employed by Americold Logistics and later with Paco Pallets. With the economic downturn his company down-sized eliminating his position and Michael moved back to Appleton in mid-2008 to seek employment here.
He is survived by his parents and three sisters: Jean Ann (Ray) Clemons of Grants, New Mexico and their children Samuel and Lydia; Summer Newlin of Neenah, Wisconsin and her children Ethan, Ella, Anna, and Aidan; and Beth (Paul) Koch of Fort Wayne, Indiana and their children Owen and Siena. He is further survived by aunts, uncles, and friends.
The funeral service for Michael will be held at 6:45 p.m. on Monday, March 7, 2011, at CALVARY BIBLE CHURCH, 1450 Oakridge Road in Neenah. Friends will be received at the church on Monday from 4 p.m. until the time of service at 6:45. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Michael's name is being established.
