    Obituary:
Raymond R. (Ray) Woldt, 92, Appleton, passed away at Manor Care Nursing Home on August 25, 2008, with his loving family at his side. He was born on March 13, 1916, to the late Herman and Hulda (Plamann) Woldt. As a young man, Ray was an independent milk hauler in the Fox Valley area. He married Martha Van Handel at St John's Catholic Church in Little Chute, WI on June 15, 1939. After selling the milk route in the 1940's, he briefly worked in construction until he began his employment at Consolidated Badger, Appleton, where he worked until 1979, retiring at the age of 62. Ray had many interests. As a teenager, he exchanged part time work at the Outagamie Co airport for flying lessons. After earning his license, he worked part time to pay for the airplane rental to take his future wife on flying dates. He maintained his interest in flying by being a long time member of the EAA and attending the annual conventions. He was a volunteer fireman for the Grand Chute Fire Dept for 30 years and took this responsibility very seriously. In the 1970's, Ray and Martha purchased and built a cottage on Pelican Lake WI which would come to be his favorite place in the world. He was an avid hunter and fisherman. He was especially interested in musky fishing, deer and turkey hunting. He enjoyed these activities well into his eighties hunting with his sons and grandchildren. Ray was able to fix anything and was more than willing to help out anyone who requested his services. He was adept at construction, plumbing, electrical - and if he couldn't find a replacement part, he invented one. At the age of 80, he took up the sport of golfing which he enjoyed both on the course and viewing on TV. Other sports he was interested in was baseball, football, bull riding, bowling and horseshoes.
Raymond is survived by his wife of 69 years, Martha; son and daughter-in-law, Robert and Donna Woldt, Kaukauna; daughters: Carol Spiegelberg, Ogdensburg, and Patricia Woldt, Appleton WI; daughter-in-law, Connie Woldt, Seymour; brother and sister-in-law, Herman and Imelda Woldt, Little Chute; and brother Melvin Woldt, Appleton; sister, Anita Berg, Appleton. He is further survived by his in-laws, Anna Paalman, Appleton; Earl Van Handel, Little Chute; Ray and Marge Van Handel, Little Chute, Barb and Gene Sprague, Kimberly, and Ray Wittlin, Black Creek. He is also survived by his special grandchildren and great grandchildren; Sherri and Gary Gerrits, Travis and Katie Woldt and their children, Jacob and Joseph; Lisa and Quentin Johnson and their children, Taylor, Derek and Emma; Kelli Woldt and Adam Peters and their children, Mikenna and Carson; James Spiegelberg and his fiance, Acela Rodriguez, and Laura Spiegelberg and friend, Dan Wood. He is also survived by many nieces and nephews.
Ray was preceded in death by his son, Jim, on January 21, 2007. Besides his parents and in-laws, Joseph and Elizabeth Van Handel, he was preceded by son-in-law Lyle Spiegelberg, brother Oscar and wife Bertha Woldt, brother Gordon and wife Marge Woldt, brother Leslie and wife Lois Woldt, sister Bernice Stein and husband Hank, sister Lila Wittlin, and brother Kenneth Woldt. He was also preceded in death by in-laws, Peter Berg, Josephine and Martin Van Asten, Cora Van Handel, Ed and Blanche Van Handel, Joseph Paalman, Audrey Van Handel, and Ronald Peterson.
Funeral services for Ray will be held at 11 a.m. on Friday, August 29, 2008, at St. Thomas More Catholic Church (1810 N McDonald St.) with Father Gerald Falk officiating. Visitation will be held at Wichmann Funeral Home (537 North Superior St,) on Thursday, August 28, 2008, from 4 until 8 p.m. and again on Friday from 10 a.m. until the time of Mass directly at church. Entombment will follow at Highland Memorial Park.
The family wishes to thank the RNs and CNAs at Manor Care Nursing Home for their special care of our father the last 2 years. We are grateful to Dr. Jack Meyer for his care and concern and to Father Gerald Falk for his many visits to dad in the nursing home. The family also extends a special thank you to nephew Ervin Woldt for his many visits and companionship - Dad really appreciated that.
Dad, we just can not believe that you are gone. You were such a fighter and so active that it seems impossible that you are not here with us. You have led a life that has influenced not only your children but all your relatives, young and old. We will miss you so much! - Your kids.
"God grant that I may live to fish until my dying day. And when my final cast is made I then most humbly pray - When in the Lord's safe landing net I'm peacefully asleep, Then in His mercy I be judged As good enough to keep."

    Obituary:
Anita Berg, 85, Appleton, passed away on March 8, 2014 as gently and peacefully as she lived. She was born July 1, 1928, to the late Herman and Hulda (Plamann) Woldt. On August 19, 1950 she married Peter L. Berg at St.
Joseph Catholic Church in Appleton. They celebrated 42 wonderful years of marriage until his death in September of 1992. Anita and Peter were charter members of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, Appleton.
Anita was a sweet, gentle, kind and caring woman. She was a beautiful woman who took great care in tending all the gifts God had given her; her husband, her children and grandchildren, her home, her yard, her flowers. She loved her family with her whole heart and soul. She had a servant spirit and always wanted the best for everyone else; even at the end of her life. She especially loved to cook and bake. She was an awesome cook and was always prepared to feed an army. She could pull a several course meal together in the blink of an eye. She so enjoyed waiting on us as we took pleasure in her delicious meals, all the while encouraging us to eat more. At age 82 she could still be seen mowing her yard on the John Deere tractor wearing her little John Deere cap. Her yard and her home were always pristine. She took pride in mowing and trimming and raking until not a blade of grass was out of place. She and Pete enjoyed travelling after their retirement. She continued her travels for years after Pete's death with her sister-in-law Theresa, her favorite travelling companion. Anita spent years as a league bowler. Her name and her high scores were quite often published in the newspaper. She could throw a curve ball that would ever so gently knock the pins down as she leaned to the left as if to steer her ball to hit just the right spot. She spent time as a volunteer at St. Thomas More parish and enjoyed her visits with the other volunteers there.
Anita is survived by her son, Dan (Amy) and her daughter, Tina Hanson (Dave Caulk), her grandchildren; Becky (Greg) Hulett, Erin (Justin) Kahl, Peter Berg, Adam (Heather) Hanson, David (Tina Falk) Hanson and six great grandchildren; Jerry, Avery, Judy, Eli, Owen and Evan and two great grandbabies on the way. She is survived by her brother and sister-in-law, Herman (Imelda) Woldt, sister-in-law, Martha Woldt, brother-in-law, Ray Wittlin and many nieces and nephews. She is further survived by her husband's family Joan Janz, Loretta (Gerald) Schultz, Victor Berg, Vincent (Ione) Berg, Adam (Charlotte) Berg, Florence Walker, and Anna (Richard) Hayes; sisters-in-law: Verona, Dolores, Mildred, Leone and Theresa Berg; and brother-in-law, Richard DeBroux.
Anita was preceded in death by her husband Peter Berg, her brothers Oscar (Bertha) Woldt, Raymond Woldt, Melvin Woldt, Gordon (Marge) Woldt, Leslie (Lois) Woldt and Kenneth Woldt and her sisters Bernice (Henry) Stein and Lila Wittlin. She was further preceded in death by Peter's family; brothers-in-law: Francis (Lavern) Berg, John Berg, Hubert Berg, Gerald Berg, Jerome Berg, Leo Berg, Carlton (Geri) Berg and George (Judy) Berg; sisters-in-law; Margaret Maxfield and Evelyn DeBroux.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be held 11:00AM Wednesday, March 12, 2014 at St Thomas More Catholic Church 1810 N. McDonald Street, Appleton, with the Rev. Gerald Falk officiating. Interment will be in St. Joseph Cemetery, Appleton. Anita's family will receive friends and relatives at Valley Funeral Home on Tuesday from 4-7PM with a prayer vigil at 6:30PM. The visitation will continue on Wednesday at the church from 9:30 until 10:45AM. A memorial fund is being established.
The family would like to thank the staff at Heartwood Homes who have taken such compassionate care of our mom these past several months. Thank you to the staff and nurses of Asera Care Hospice who have cared for her and loved her as family. Kayla, Tammy, Kim, Emily, Rose and Emily you are angels, and we were so blessed to have you caring for our mother. We'd like to extend a special thank you to mom's hairdresser Karen Nelson. Thank you for being a friend to mom for almost 40 years. You treated her with so much dignity and respect so faithfully until the end and loved her and treated her as you would your own mom. You will never know the difference you made in her life and ours. Thanks also to the staff at Renaissance Senior Living. Mom's experience at your facility was uplifting.

"Dad, you had a sense of humor and had a way of making people laugh, even in your illness, you comforted us with your wit. You always said, you weren't 'pushing up the daisies yet,' and now you're no longer on the sunny side of the grass, but at peace in heaven, forever. We all love you and will miss you dearly."
"Grandpa 'Papa Jim,' thank you for always making us feel special. You are now our guardian angel. Love you!"
Jim wrote: "When I was born, I was crying and everyone around me was smiling. I lived my life so that when I die I will be the one smiling and everyone around will be crying."
The family wishes to express special thanks to Dr. Guenther and the staff at the Martha Siekman Cancer Center for their care and compassion, especially Marlene and Melissa for all their hugs; the AMC Radiation Oncology Unit, and the wonderful staff on 3 South; and Theda Care Hospice, especially Paul. We would also like to thank our many friends and relatives for all their support. Special thanks to Mike Pingel and Tom Cleven, for all the special visits.
