    Obituary:
William D. Blajeski, age 78, Kaukauna, passed away Thurs., April 10, 2008, at Appleton Medical Center following a lengthy battle with cancer. He was born October 23, 1929, in Kaukauna, to the late Walter and Mary (Kramer) Blajeski. William was a graduate of Kaukauna High School with the Class of 1948. He was a U. S. Army Veteran tank operator serving in Korea, earning the Korean Service Medal with a Bronze Star, United Nations Service Medal, and Combat Infantry Badge. A life-long Kaukauna resident, Bill spent summers diving from treetops to swim in the Fox River and crossed the locks to deliver lunch to his father working in the paper mill. William married Leila I. Boerschel on August 7, 1954, at St. Stephen's United Church of Christ in Merrill. He was employed as a pipe fitter by Thilmany Pulp and Paper Company from 1947 until his retirement. Bill spent his retirement refinishing furniture, attending Saturday auctions with his wife, and traveling with Army friends. He enjoyed working with his daughter and son-in-law during the fall cranberry harvest, gaining an appreciation but never fully understanding the family farm dynamic. His sense of humor and Polish witticisms were shared on every occasion, all acquaintances were privy to the meaning of the "ski" in his name. Bill conveyed generosity and integrity in daily life, had abiding faith in God, and cared deeply for his family.
William is survived by his wife of 54 years, Leila; a daughter Pamela (Ryan) Walker, Wisconsin Rapids; and a son, Scott (special friend, Midge Klein) Blajeski of Atlanta, GA.; two grandchildren, Andrew and Tyler Walker, Wisconsin Rapids. He is further survived by a brother Thomas (Carol) Blajeski, and sisters-in-law Delores Blajeski, and Harriet Blajeski, all of Kaukauna.
William was preceded in death by a daughter, Lynn Blajeski in December; a sister Blanche Jirikowic; and brothers Randall and John Blajeski.
Funeral Service for William will be at 11 a.m. on Tues., April 15, 2008, at BOETTCHER FAMILY FUNERAL HOME, 2401 Fieldcrest Drive, Kaukauna, with the Rev. Melinda Feller officiating. Friends may call at the Funeral Home from 9 a.m. until time of service.
In Lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established in his name.
    Remember
    Remember me when
    I am gone away,
    Gone far away
    into the silent land;
    When you can no more
    hold me by the hand,
Nor I half turn to go,
    yet turning stay.
    Remember me when
    no more,
    day by day,
    You tell me of
    our future
    that you planned:
    Only remember me;
    you understand
    It will be late
    to counsel then
    or pray.
    Yet if you should
    forget me
    for a while
    And afterwards remember,
    do not grieve:
    For if the darkness
    and corruption leave
    A vestige of
    the thoughts that
    once I had,
    Better by far
    you forget
    and smile
    Than that you
    remember
    and be sad.
    C. G. Rosesetti

To let you know we love you,
And just how much we care.
    Take our million teardrops,
    Wrap them up in love,
Then ask the wind to carry them,
    To you in heaven above
