Obituary:
Ira Briggs, 85, Hortonville, died at 7 o'clock Friday evening at the Orlo Slater residence where he was making his home.
He was born Feb. 19, 1864, in Hortonville and lived there all his life except for 10 years in South Dakota.
Survivors include three daughters, Mrs. Leila Landrow, Green Bay, Mrs. Elmer Conmer, Belle Forche, S.D., and Mrs. Louis McRann, Clintonville; one son, Lloyd, Bear Creek; one sister, Mrs. Hattie Lund Sedrhalm, Genessee Depot; 23 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services will be at 2 o'clock Monday afternoon at the Borchardt and Moder Funeral Home, Hortonville. The Rev. Archie Wilcox, Hortonville, will be in charge. Burial will be at the Union Cemetery, Hortonville.
Friends may call at the funeral home from Sunday noon until the time of the service.

Obituary:
Nellie (Mc Rann) Starcheska, age 92, Manawa, died on Friday, January 03, 2014. Nellie was born on January 23, 1921, daughter of the late Edward L. and Irma (Briggs) Mc Rann, on the Mc Rann farm near Bear Creek. She attended Silver Creek Grade School, Clintonville High School and Appleton School of Cosmetology. Nellie worked in New London for Sadie's Beauty Shop and Beth Ann Beauty Shop. On August 30, 1941, she married Arnold Starcheska at Methodist Church, Bear Creek. They lived on the Starcheska farm. She worked 5 years at Bessie's Beauty Shop in Manawa and 5 years at Dee Dee's Beauty Shop. In 1951, Arnie and she moved to Manawa and Nellie bought Dee Dee's Beauty Shop and moved it to the Eastling building. There she operated the shop for 33 years retiring in 1983. Nellie was a member of the Manawa United Methodist Church. She enjoyed crocheting, gardening and traveling.
She is survived by a brother, Jim (LaVern) Mc Rann; brother's in-law, Gene Starcheska and Harold Eulrich and also nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband Arnold, sister, Mary Eulrich, sister-in-law, Beulah Starcheska and special cousin Raymond Briggs (who was killed in Korea in 1951).
Funeral services for Nellie will be held on Tuesday, January 7, 2014, at 11:00 a.m. at United Methodist Church, Manawa with Rev. Dale Eggert officiating. Visitation will be held at the church on Tuesday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Burial will be in the Union Cemetery, Symco.
