Sparky was born June 18, 1915 in Little Chu te the son of the late Stephen and Anna (Koehne) Sanders. He resided a ll of his life in the Fox Valley except for several years in the militar y. Ralph was formerly employed as an accountant for the Wisconsin-Michig an Power Co. for many years, retiring in 1976. He was proud to have serv ed his country during WWII with the U.S. Navy in the South Pacific. Spar ky was involved in many activities during his life including being o ne of the organizers of Little League Baseball and the Babe Ruth Leag ue in Appleton, assisting with the Americanos Drum and Bugle Corp., a Pa st Commander of VFW Harvey-Pierre Post #2778 of Appleton, member of Americ an Legion Post #38 of Appleton, the Appleton Moose Lodge, Military Ord er of Cooties, and the Golden K's. Sparky enjoyed all kinds of sports a nd played semi-pro football for the Flying Dutchman of Little Chute. He al so enjoyed baseball, bowling, golfing, the Packers, Chicago Cubs, and h is getaways to Chute Pond.     Robert S. Sanders, Sr., Appleton, age 81, passed away on Wednesday morning, August 2, 2006, at Parkside Care Center in Little Chute. He was born on December 24, 1924, in Little Chute to the late Stephen and Anne (Koehne) Sanders. Bob served his country with the United States Army during WWII. He was united in marriage to Marianne Mosher of Wausau, she preceded him in death. Robert was later united in marriage to Bonnie Clark, she survives. Bob spent his entire working life as a Switchman for the Chicago North Western Railroad. He was a member of the VFW Electric City Post 3319 in Kaukauna, where he served as commander during the 1960s. He was a founder of the St. Vincent DePaul Society, St. Aloysius Chapter, and was a member of St. Aloysius and St. Mary's Catholic Churches in Kaukauna for many years. Bob enjoyed golfing, bowling, woodworking, and loved cooking for his family.
    He will be sadly missed by his wife, Bonnie; his children: Terrence (Christine) Sanders, Manistique, MI; Robert Jr. (Laurie) Sanders, Appleton; Laura (Gregory) Griffin, Cedar Rapids, IA; step-children: Pamela (Marty) Daly, Texas; Jeffrey (Martha) Polman, Georgia; Lili (Bob) Hahn, Combined Locks; Jackie Rogers, Stevens Point; Jill (John) Graffeo, Ohio; Holly (Brad) Sims, North Carolina; Matthew (Kirsten) Polman, Madison; grandchildren: Eileen Spoo, Phylea (Dale) Goehring, Kandace Sanders, Benjamin Sanders, Lucian Sanders, Marianne Griffin, Kyllian Griffin; 18 step-grandchildren; great-grandchildren: Lawrence Spoo, Nicholas and Brooke Goehring.     In addition to his parents, and his first wife, Marianne, he was preceded in death by his brothers and sisters: Viola, Earl, Dorothy, Ralph, Marie, James, Frank, Alvin, Rita, and Helen.
    Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 5, 2006, at 11 a.m. at St. Mary's Catholic Church (119 W. 7th Street, Kaukauna) with Father Jerry Pastors officiating. Friends may call at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the mass. Military Honors will be performed at the church directly after mass. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery in Kaukauna.

    DeCoster, Regina M. "Peggy"
    Regina DeCoster, 82, Kaukauna, passed away at Parkside Care Center on Friday morning, March 19, 2010. She was born in Little Chute, on Nov. 30, 1927, daughter of the late Steven and Anne (Koehne) Sanders. Regina was a 1945 graduate of the Kaukauna High School and on Sept. 8, 1951, married Robert "Windy" DeCoster. He preceded her in death on Dec. 3, 1988.
    As a young woman, Regina rode the bus to Appleton every day to work at First National Bank on College Avenue, and after her marriage stayed home to care for her young family. She was a member of the Kaukauna Moose Lodge and enjoyed reading Danielle Steele novels, camping, knitting for her family, dining out, cheering for the Green Bay Packers and watching golf on television. Her greatest joy came from spending time with her children and grandchildren at family gatherings.
    She is survived by her loving children, Pat (Dave) Verbruggen, Kimberly; Judi (Fred) Kiar, Little Chute; Tim "Burr" DeCoster, Kaukauna, and his special friend, Judy; Bill (Kara) DeCoster, Kaukauna; and Donna (Al) Schmidt, White Lake. There are 12 grandchildren, Eric (Lynne) Verbruggen, Ryan (Julie) Verbruggen, Adam Verbruggen and his fiancee, Emily Hietpas, Carrie Verbruggen and her special friend, Todd Berken, Leah Kiar, Trevor DeCoster, Gina DeCoster, Brooke DeCoster, Britt DeCoster, Andy Schmidt, Tony Schmidt and Dan Schmidt; three great-grandchildren, Isaac and Sam Verbruggen, and Alex Verbruggen. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Regina was preceded in death by her parents; sisters, Rita, Marie, Helen, Viola and Dorothy; and brothers, Frank, Ralph, Earl, Alvin, Jim and Bob.
    The funeral liturgy for Regina will be held at 4 p.m. Tuesday, March 23, 2010, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street in Kaukauna, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday from 2 p.m. until the time of the Mass.
    In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund is being established.

    Gladys S. (Dix) Frassetto, age 94, Little Chute, passed away on July 21, 2015. She was born in Kaukauna, the daughter of the late William and Alfreida (Koehne) Dix. Gladys married Alphonso Frassetto on July 20, 1946. He preceded her in death in November of 1994. Their marriage was blessed with three children. She graduated from Kaukauna High School. Gladys was employed at Woolworth's for many years. She was an exemplary homemaker who enjoyed bread baking, canning, needlework and card games. Gladys was a member of Holy Spirit Parish, the Golden Agers and Holy Name Mission clubs for many years.
    Gladys is survived by her three children: Richard, Neil (Connie) and Shari (Matt) Hanna; 5 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
    She was preceded in death by her husband, 4 brothers and numerous other relatives and friends.

    Van Hammond, Alice M., "Welch ", KaukaunaAge 86, passed away at her home on Wednesday, July 23, 2003. She was bo rn on April 5, 1917, daughter of the late Levi and Lena Welch. On July 2 7, 1937 she married Martin Van Hammond in Little Chute. He preceded h er in death on December 20, 1996. They enjoyed 59 years of marriage. Alice 's father was an avid Cubs fan and she carried on the tradition. She w as a self taught musician and loved to play the organ. Her hobby involved crocheting dolls, afghans and making quilted blankets for her grandchil dren and great-grandchildren, which brought her great joy.     Arthur Koehne, an employee of the Kaukauna Post Office for the past 18 years, was recently informed of his appointment as assistant postmaster at Kaukauna, succeeding Mrs. Gen Anderson, who retired from the service on February 28.

    Obituary:
    Arthur David Koehne, husband, father and grandfather passed away at the St. Paul Villas of Kaukauna on Friday, December 6, 2013.
    He was born and raised in the city of Kaukauna and attended local schools.
    In 1972, he was inducted into the Kaukauna Athletic Hall of Fame.
    Art was a member of the Wisconsin National Guard 32nd division for 38 years. During 5 of those years, he was on active duty in the New Guinea, Bung Mission Campaign, and World War II as a staff sergeant. He was discharged in September 1945. In 1947, after attending Officers Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia, he re-entered the guard as a second lieutenant and eventually rose to the rank of Lt. Colonel. His duties included: command of his former Company D, and he retired from military service in 1978.
    Art was employed by the U.S. Postal Service for 34 years and worked in various positions ending as post master and superintendent of mail. He retired in 1978. After retirement, he and his wife, Pearl traveled extensively throughout the US, Europe, and Asia. He was a current and charter member of The Fox Valley Golf Club. In the late 1960's he shot a hole-in-one in Lakewood, Wisconsin at the McCaslin Brook Golf Course.
    Art was active in his former parish of St. Mary of the Annunciation serving as athletic director and coached it's basketball team of which he was very fond. He also served on the financial committee of the Parish. He was currently a member of Holy Cross Parish and served on the community meals on wheels program.
    Art was a member of the Kaukauna Lions Club, and he served three years as treasurer. He was elected President in 1976 and served as zone chairman for our area. Art was also a former member of the Kaukauna Elks Club and currently a member of the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars.
    Art is survived by his wife of 61 years, Mary Pearl Casey Koehne; three daughters, Mary Beth (Ken) Schumann, Jane (Steve Vuchetich) Koehne, and Nan (David MacArthur) Luedke; and his three beloved grandsons, Matthew Schumann, Carl Schumann, and Brett Luedke.
    Funeral liturgy for Art will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at HOLY CROSS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 309 Desnoyer Street, Kaukauna, with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. A time of visitation will be held at church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service. Art will be laid to rest at Holy Cross Cemetery.     Donald Sanderfoot, 81, Green Bay, formerly of Little Chute, passed away Friday, November 13, 2009, at Parkview Manor, Green Bay. He was born June 24, 1928, in Little Chute, son of John and Marie (Sanders) Sanderfoot. Donald married Grace A. Behling June 24, 1950, celebrating 59 years of marriage together. Mr. Sanderfoot was a member of St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, Little Chute. Donald was also a member of the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute. For 46 years he was employed at Midtec Paper until his retirement. As a youth, Donald was an amazing pitcher and baseball player, playing baseball as part of the AA league. He continued his love for baseball through the years being a big fan of the Milwaukee Brewers. Through his adult life he was a top bowler in the area. During his summers Donald always enjoyed spending time up north with his family and fishing on Post Lake in Elcho. In the fall he and Grace loved traveling to Colorado to visit their daughter Laurie and her husband Tom. He was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War.
    Donald is survived by his wife, Grace; two daughters: Julie (Brian) Lani, Green Bay; Laurie (Tom) Miller, Littleton, Colorado; five grandchildren: Christopher Lani; Jacqueline Lani; Dan Lux; Lisa Lux and Beth Lux; a brother, Jim (Barb) Sanderfoot, Kaukauna; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Spierings, Appleton; Eleanor Behling, Little Chute; aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Marie Sanderfoot; two brothers-in-law: Edward Behling and John Spierings; a godson, John Sanderfoot.
    Funeral services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, November 19, 2009, at St. John Nepomucene Catholic Church, 323 S. Pine St., Little Chute, with Fr. James Hablewitz officiating. Interment will be in St. John Cemetery, Little Chute. Visitation will be held at the church from 9 a.m. Thursday until the time of the mass. Full military honors will be performed by the Jacob Coppus American Legion Post #258, Little Chute following the mass. In lieu of flowers, a memorial has been established.
    Donald's family wishes to thank all nursing staff in the dementia wing at Parkview Manor, Green Bay for the wonderful care and compassion they showed toward Don. Thank You.

    Ronald H. Dix, 74, Combined Locks, passed away peacefully on Friday, Feb. 25, 2011, with his family by his side at Manor Care in Appleton. He said the Angels were there for him! Ron was born on Feb. 27, 1936, in Kaukauna, the son of the late Herman and Virginia (Hamer) Dix. On Sept. 1, 1956, he married Shirley Kappell at St. Mary Catholic Church in Appleton. Ron was employed at U.S. Oil Company for 40 years. He graduated from Kimberly High School in 1955 and enjoyed playing football, basketball and umpiring many baseball games. He loved being sarcastic and making people laugh! Ron spent a lot of time with his family, taking them fishing and camping, and going to the park, zoo or cottage. These good times will never be forgotten!
    Ron is survived by his wife, Shirley Dix; children, Dave (Pam) Dix, Jean (Santos) Anaya, Tom (Tina) Dix, Jim (Gail) Dix, Joe (Julie Remmel) Dix and Mark (Brenda) Dix; 15 grandchildren, Tiffany (Shane), Juanita (Andy), Mario (Lindsey), Tommy (Lindsey), Trenton, Jon, Rob, Mike, Olivia, Ali, Ashley, Missy (Kurry), Chad, Breanna and Tony; and six great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a brother, Dan Dix; four sisters-in-law, Bonnie (Leroy) Gorges, Gerry (Al) Demers, Janice (Emmett) Clark and Margie Kappell; also many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
    Ron was preceded in death by his sister, Janet (Dick) Cotnoir; sister-in-law, Marlene (Porkie) Brooks; brother-in-law, Jack Kappell; and father- and mother-in-law: Raymond and Genevieve Kappell.
    The funeral service for Ronald will be held at 7 p.m. on Tuesday, March 1, 2011, at JANSEN FARGO FUNERAL HOME. A time of visitation and support will be held on Tuesday from 3 p.m. until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund will be established in his name.

    Obituary:
    Harry J. Wirth, age 86, passed away peacefully with his wife by his side, on Sunday morning, June 4, 2017, at Century Oaks Assisted Living. Harry was born on February 22, 1931, in Kaukauna, oldest son of the late Harold Sr. and Helen (Dix) Wirth. Harry graduated from Kaukauna High School in 1949. During his high school years, he played trumpet in the school band and was also a gifted boxer, a sport that he continued during his Navy years. Harry honorably served in the United States Navy from 1949 to 1956. In 1951, Harry met the love of his life, Diane Vander Zanden, and married her a year later on July 1st,1952. They enjoyed almost 65 years of marriage.
    Harry had many interests. He was involved in the Lions club where he had many roles including; President, Vice President, Lion Tamer and received the Melvin Jones Fellow award in 1994. He also belonged to the Kimberly Community Band as a trumpet player participating in many parades and concerts. Harry was an avid golfer. He was a member of the Fox Valley Golf Club, and enjoyed the camaraderie of his golfing buddies. In 2003, at the age of 72, Harry was thrilled to get a hole-in-one on the #8 hole. He loved watching his grandkids playing in all types of sports. In his early years, Harry pitched in the fast pitch soft ball league, as well as sponsoring and participating in various bowling leagues. In the early 70's, he coached basketball at St. Mary's grade school. Harry and Diane enjoyed many years at their Legend Lake home with family and friends. He was also an ardent Packer Fan. Harry was a skilled dancer, although the only one able to keep up with him was his wife Diane.
    Harry's passion for the bakery industry actually started when he was a teenager helping out at Kalupa's Bakery (now Hill Top Bakery). Later, with a young wife and growing family, Harry pursued other opportunities in the field. Stops at Omar's Bakery in Milwaukee, Elm Tree Bakery in downtown Appleton, Mason's Bakery in Florida culminating with six years as supervisor of the Super Value chain in Waukesha. In 1969, the opportunity to purchase Hill Top Bakery (formerly Kalupa's), lured Harry and Diane with their family of eight back to Kaukauna. The challenge of owning his own bakery, with its daunting hours and hard work was demanding but rewarding to both Harry and Diane. With their children's help it was truly a family affair. Hilltop Honey House, a holiday classic and nationally distributed for many years (and still is) epitomized Harry's legacy at his Kaukauna bakery. They owned Hilltop for 26 years until their retirement. However, Harry continued to decorate cakes, work holidays, and mentor employees until he was 80. He retired and passed down the bakery to his daughter Lynn and husband Mark. In 2009, Harry was inducted into the Wisconsin Bakers Hall of Fame.
    Harry is survived by his loving wife: Diane; his eight children: Susan (Jim) Hill, Daniel (Vicki) Wirth, Thomas (Angela) Wirth, Timothy (Kathy) Wirth, Scott (Teri) Wirth, Lynn (Mark) Engel, Jay (Paula) Wirth, and Shari Wirth; 15 grandchildren: Jason (Ashley) Hill, Kimberly (Tom) Stapleton, Nicole (Danny) Immel, Tyler Wirth, Landon (Nicole) Wirth, Brenton Wirth, Kevin, Jessica (Jeff) Flynt, Jennifer (James) Fashingbauer, Kelli Wirth, Ryan (Brittney) Wirth, Faustine Engel, Miles Engel, Laura (AJ) Looker, and Gabrielle Engel. Harry is further survived by his 18 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces, nephews, in-laws, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers: Robert and Marvin; his oldest granddaughter: Andrea Wirth; parents-in-law: George and Marie Vander Zanden; and several other in-laws.
    The Funeral Liturgy for Harry will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, June 8, 2017, at HOLY SPIRIT/HOLY NAME CATHOLIC CHURCH, 600 East Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly, with Father Bob Kollath officiating. A time of visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 7, 2017, at the JANSEN FARGO FUNERAL HOME, 204 East Kimberly Avenue, Kimberly, from 4:00 p.m. until the time of the prayer service at 7:00 p.m. Visitation will continue at CHURCH on Thursday, from 9:00 a.m. until the time of Mass.     David J. Thurner, Menasha, age 61, died unexpectedly Sunday August 19, 2012 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. He was born April 15, 1951 to the late Lawrence and Lucille Vanden Boogart. David was then adopted by Nicholas and Gladys (Romenesko) Thurner. He attended Oshkosh School for the Deaf and Kaukauna High School, graduating in 1970. Through his attendance at Friday night dances at the V.F.W, David was later reunited with his birth family. David married Deborah Graves on April 16, 1988. He loved the holidays and enjoyed decorating for them. He also enjoyed parties and weddings and loved to polka. David is survived by his wife of 24 years, Deborah; sisters: Lila Thurner, Carol (Richard) Nelson, Barbara (Andy) Zielinski, Judith Saubel and Alice (John) Gerhardt; step-brother Orile (Christine) Milton; step-sister Dorothy (Harry) Van Lith; father and mother-in-law Donald and Rebecca Graves; and brothers and sisters-in-law: Sandra (Fred) Stecker and Michael (Sandra) Graves. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.     James Rosenthal, age 50, of Appleton, passed away at ManorCare in Appleton on Thursday, February 19, 2015. James was born on November 12, 1964, in Kaukauna to Carol Sue (Dix) Rosenthal and the late Wilmer Rosenthal. James was well-known for his efforts to help those in need. He was an enthusiastic volunteer at the Salvation Army Community Garden in Appleton and the St. Vincent De Paul Store.
    Survivors include his mother, Carol Sue Rosenthal; his daughter, Sarah (Andy) Engel; his siblings, Greg Rosenthal; Kip (Nicole) Rosenthal; Rob (Monique) Rosenthal; Kyle (Nina) Rosenthal; Justine (Brad) Knope; and Ryan (Rosey) Rosenthal; his nieces and nephews, Ian and Dylan Rosenthal; Kassidy, Kozette and Klaara Rosenthal; Gavin and Rafe Rosenthal; Olivia Rosenthal; Chloe and Carly Knope; and Tala and Liam Rosenthal. He is further survived by many other relatives and friends. James was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents and God parents, Helen and Don Dix; his paternal grandparents, Walter and Alma Rosenthal; and numerous aunts and uncles.

    On May 12, 1989 he was united in marriage to Jennifer Vanevenhoven at Holy Cross Church in Kaukauna.
    Randy was a home builder for 14 years and was currently with Oshkosh Corp.
    He is survived by his wife Jennifer, two sons; Michael and Matthew, his mother Shirley Still, sister Carla (Tim) Schommer, in-laws Roger and Mary Vanevenhoven, brother-in-law Tim (Sue) Vanevenhoven, sister-in-law Sarah Murray, and many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. Randy was preceded in death by his father Bob.
    Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Wednesday, June 4, 2014 at 11:30 AM at St. Bernadette Catholic Church 2331 E. Lourdes Dr. Appleton, with Fr. Don Zuleger officiating. Relatives and friends may visit with the family on Wednesday from 9:30 to 11:00 AM at the CHURCH.

    Andrea Wirth, age 35, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, August 21, 2014. She was born on December 27, 1978, in Appleton, the daughter of Thomas and Angela (Toepel) Wirth. Andrea graduated from Kaukauna High School Class of 1997 as Valedictorian. She then went on to receive her BA in Economics and Business from Cornell College, Mount Vernon, Iowa, graduating Magna Cum Laude in 2000. While attending Cornell College Andrea locally headed Habitat for Humanity and following graduation she was elected to the Board of Young Trustees for the College.
    Andrea began her professional career in 2000 as an Equity Analyst with Robert W. Baird in Milwaukee. While working full-time, from 2005 to 2008, Andrea attended The University of Chicago Booth School of Business, receiving her MBA with a concentration in Accounting and Finance. Shortly thereafter Andrea was promoted to Vice President-Senior Analyst and relocated to Chicago where she worked for Robert W. Baird until 2011. Andrea was currently employed as a Research Associate with Oak Ridge Investments.
    Andrea lived life to its fullest and was passionate about many things. On any given day you could see her out running on the streets of Chicago with her beloved Labrador and constant companion Ella. Andrea was an advocate for furthering education and a mentor for Big Brothers Big Sisters Organization. She was passionate about her career and politics and was an active member of the Chicago Young Professionals and Chicago Young Republicans. She enjoyed reading books, had a great love for music and became an accomplished pianist. Andrea enjoyed being active, social and making lasting and meaningful connections with family and her many wonderful friends.
    Andrea is survived by her parents Thomas and Angela Wirth; brothers: Landon (Nicole) Wirth and Brenton Wirth; niece Emerson Wirth; grandparents Diane and Harry Wirth; She is further survived by numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends. Andrea was preceded in death by her grandmother Edith Toepel.
    The funeral liturgy for Andrea will be held at 1:00 pm on Friday, August 29, 2014 at ST. KATHARINE DREXEL PARISH - ST. MARY CHURCH, 119 W. Seventh Street in Kaukauna. Fr. Jerry Pastors will be officiating. A Celebration of Andrea's Life will be held on Thursday at the Fargo Funeral Home from 4:00 pm until 8:00 pm and again at the church from 11:00 am until the time of mass.
    To support Andrea's passion for furthering education, a memorial scholarship fund for women pursuing a career in business will be established in her name. In lieu of flowers, a contribution to this fund is requested.
