Lawrence W. Zimmerman, of De Pere, formerly of Appleton, born to eternal life at the age of 93, on Thursday, June 9, 2005, following a lingering illness.
Lawrence was born in Appleton on Dec. 21, 1911, son of the late Carl and Rose (Deltour) Zimmerman.
He is survived by his loving wife of 73 years, Lucille (Risse); his four children, Dr. Richard C. (Kathleen), West Bend, Nancy L. (Donald) Wallace, Madison, Luann M. (Terry) Thorson, Green Bay, and Peter C. (Judith), Plover; 13 grandchildren; 39 great-grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; his sister, Marian Williams, Menasha; and sister-in-law, Drucilla Bay, Kaukauna.
Lawrence was employed at Kimberly-Clark for 43 years, retiring in 1970. He was a longtime member of First English Lutheran Church. During his retirement, he won many trophies while exhibiting his 1927 Model T Ford. Lawrence also delighted in being a member of the Big Brother Program. His greatest pride was watching his grandchildren and great-grandchildren grow up and succeed in academics and sports. Lawrence will be greatly missed by his family and all who loved him.
The funeral service will be at 3 p.m. Sunday at Highland Memorial Park, Star of Hope Chapel, 3131 N. Richmond St., Appleton, with the Rev. David Lyle officiating. Visitation will be from 2 p.m. until the time of service Sunday at the chapel. Thorson, Luanne Marie
A light from our home is gone. On Thursday, Nov. 20, 2008, Luann Marie (Zimmerman) Thorson went peacefully to her home in Heaven. Luann was born Feb. 3, 1940, in Appleton, the daughter of Lucille (Risse) Zimmerman and the late Lawrence Zimmerman.
She loved to play bridge and taught bridge for many years for N.W.T.C., Allouez Parks and Recreation Department and most recently the Green Bay Country Club. She also enjoyed ushering at the Weidner Center. Her biggest love was her family. Holidays, especially Christmas, were special times for her. Luann excelled at spoiling her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her mother, Lucille Zimmerman, Green Bay; three children, Jody (Paul) Klaubauf, Randall (Wendy) Thorson and Robert (Melanie) Thorson; five grandchildren, Zachary Klaubauf, Corey, Devin and Laura Thorson and Jacob (Amanda) Thorson; three great-grandchildren, Ryder Thorson, Jayde Marceau, and Hope Clausnitzer; one sister, Nancy (Donald) Wallace, Madison; two brothers, Dr. Richard (Kathleen) Zimmerman, West Bend; and Peter (Judy) Zimmerman, Plover; and her beloved dog, Spooky.
The celebration of Luann's life will be at Ascension Lutheran Church ECLA, 2911 Libal St., on Tuesday, Nov. 25, 2008, from 10 a.m. until the time of services. Funeral services will be noon Tuesday at the church. Proko-Wall Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be expressed at www.prokowall.com.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial in Luann's name is being established.
The family would like to thank Dr. Jonathan Tammela and his wonderful staff, especially Tina, Peg and Cate for their tender loving care and many hugs these past years. Thank you also to the staff and nurses of Unity Hospice, her friends and neighbors and her fantastic church family, whose love, support, phone calls, visits, food, etc., kept her going these many years. She always said she couldn't have done it without her FAITH, FAMILY AND FRIENDS.

Peter C. Zimmerman age 68, of Plover passed away unexpectedly at his home on Saturday September 7, 2013.
Funeral services for Peter will take place at 11:30 AM on Wednesday September 11, 2013 at the Plover - Shuda Funeral Home. Rev. Ben Sheets will officiate. Friends and family will gather to share memories from 10:00 - 11:30 AM on Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park in Appleton. Memorials in lieu of flowers will be established in his name for the Portage County Humane Society and an educational scholarship.
Peter was born July 25, 1945 in Appleton, to Lawrence and Lucille (Risse) Zimmerman. He graduated from Appleton High School (now West) and UW- Oshkosh with his B.A. degree. Peter married Judith Potter on August 15, 1970 in Appleton. The couple settled in Appleton until moving to Plover in 1973. Peter worked for Portage County Social Services until 1984. Peter went on to earn his Masters Degree from UW-Oshkosh and begin a new career as a guidance counselor at Wisconsin Rapids Jr. High School, retiring in 2001.
Peter enjoyed hiking, fishing, and hunting. He had a special bond with his dogs who are now reunited with Peter on the Rainbow Bridge. He especially loved being afield with his German Short Haired Pointers.
Peter is survived by his wife Judith, Plover. his brother: Dr. Richard (Kathleen) Zimmerman, West Bend; his sister: Nancy (Donald) Wallace, Madison; brother and sister in-laws: Robert and Kristine Filz, North Dakota, and Barbara Potter, Arizona; Godchildren: Scott Filz, Russell Wallace, and Laura Thorson; along with many more nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents: Lawrence and Lucille Zimmerman; in-laws: Raymond and Mildred Potter; and sister: Luann Thorson.
