    Meyer, DeForest A. "Swede"
    DeForest Meyer, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, September 15, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Hospital after a brief illness. DeForest was born on August 29, 1919, in Greenville, to the late Albert and Marie (Much) Meyer. He married Valoise Miller on June 21, 1941, at the Methodist Church in New London. DeForest farmed the family homestead for 31 years prior to moving to Appleton. While in Appleton he was a certified welder and later a foreman at Badger Northland. Moving to Plainfield, DeForest and Valoise owned and operated the Pine Grove Restaurant and Motel and a large Christmas Tree farm. The couple returned to Appleton upon his semi-retirement. DeForest enjoyed woodworking, traveling, camping, gardening and bird watching. He was well-known for his ability to fix anything mechanical and his sense of humor as a trickster and storyteller. DeForest loved his grandchildren, his great-grandchildren, and was eagerly awaiting the birth of his first great-great-grandchild.
    Survivors include Valoise, his wife of 68 years; his daughter, Betty Lou Seegers (fiance John), Menasha; her children Dawn (Carl) Baumgarten, and her children, Christopher DeForest (Christina) DeCoster, Amy (Christopher) Gehrke, and Alex Baumgarten; Betty's daughter, Tamara (Bill) Kain, and their children, Brianna, Austin, Adam and Amber Kain; and Betty's son, Travis Seegers; DeForest's son, Jerald (Doreen) Meyer, New London, their children Becky (Josh) Maschinski and their son Chase, and Jesse Meyer (friend Annie) and their children Zoe and Zander. DeForest is further survived by his pet birds, Hootie and Hoppy (his pride and joy).
    Funeral services will be at 12:30 p.m. on Friday, September 18, 2009, at ST. MATTHEW EV. LUTHERAN CHURCH, 129 S. Mason Street, Appleton, with Rev. Paul T. Schuler officiating. Friends may call directly at the church on Friday from 10:30 a.m. until the time of services. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park. A memorial has been established in his name.
    DeForest will be missed by all.

    Seegers, Travis "Tad"
    Tad Seegers, 32, passed away at St. Elizabeth Hospital on Oct. 30, 2009. Tad was born on Aug. 13, 1977, in Appleton, to Betty L. (Meyer) Seegers. He graduated from Appleton East High School. Tad was a faithful employee of Fabco and The Binding Edge.
    He enjoyed success as a bowler at the state level, was a talented video game player, enjoyed gardening, solving puzzles and his cats. Tad especially enjoyed time spent with his family. Tad eagerly looked forward to attending the Special Touch Bible Camp each summer at Spencer Lake.
    Survivors include his loving mother, Betty L. (Meyer) Seegers (friend, John); his grandmother, Valoise Meyer; his sister, Dawn Baumgarten, and her children, Christopher (Christina) DeCoster, Amy (Christopher) Gehrke and Alex Baumgarten; his sister, Tamara (Bill) Kain, and their children, Brianna, Austin, Adam and Amber Kain; and his uncle, Jerald (Doreen) Meyer, and their children, Becky (Josh) Mascinski and their son, Chase, and Jesse Meyer (friend, Annie) and their children, Zoe and Zander; his cat, Punkin; and many other relatives and friends.
    He was preceded in death by his grandfather, DeForest "Swede" Meyer; and his great-grandmother, Laura Yohr.
    Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 3, 2009, at CHRIST THE ROCK COMMUNITY CHURCH, W6254 Highway 10-114, Menasha, with the Rev. John Kieffer and the Rev. Steve Kolasinski officiating. Entombment will be in Appleton Highland Memorial Park. Friends may call directly at the church on Tuesday from 9 a.m. until the time of services.
    Tad has now joined Grandpa in Heaven.
