    Obituary:
    John "Jack" Feavel, age 96, of Appleton, passed away at Peabody Manor on Monday, April 8, 2013. Jack was born on April 24, 1916, in Appleton, to the late Raymond and Elizabeth (Zerbel) Feavel. He graduated from Appleton High School in 1934, where he was active in sports - pole vaulting, swimming and diving. Before that, he was active in Scouting for many years, achieving his Eagle Scout Award and acting as an assistant scoutmaster.
    After high school, he worked at the Institute of Paper Chemistry for five years. He was given a leave of absence to go to the University of Wisconsin-Madison. Jack graduated from UW-Madison in 1942 with a Bachelors Degree and also a major W in fencing. He was a member of Alpha Zeta Honor Society. On August 19, 1939, Jack married his childhood sweet heart, Angela "Angie" Parker. They had 73 wonderful years together.
    Jack loved music and played French Horn in the Appleton High School Band, the Appleton City Band, the 120th Field Artillery Band, the Kimberly City Band and the Elk's Club Band for many years.
    After leaving the university, he returned to his job at the Institute of Paper Chemistry for about one year. He and Angela then bought the bowling lanes at Hilbert, Wisconsin. They owned and operated the Hilbert Lanes for 14 years. Jack then worked at Lakeroad Lanes in Neenah for 35 years, partly as manager and later as Pro-Shop manager. He was inducted into the Neenah-Menasha Bowling Association Hall of Fame in 1996.
    After retirement, Jack and Angie enjoyed many years of happiness at their home on Lake Winnebago, their weekly trips to the casino and some cruises and charter tours. Jack was an avid hunter and fisherman all of his life, and also liked playing pool, tennis and golf.
    Survivors include his son, James (Patti) Feavel, Appleton; his granddaughters, Lisa (Paul) Derfus, Appleton; Shannon (Kevin) Abernathy, Fond du lac; and Jennifer (Doug) Gieryn; Neenah; his great grandsons, Bobby Derfus, Reed Gieryn and Zechariah Abernathy; his great granddaughters, Olivia Derfus and Kelly Gieryn; and many nieces and nephews. He is further survived by his special friends, Chris and Pam Hillen, and his "adopted grandson," Tyler Hillen.
    He was preceded in death by his wife of 73 years, Angela; his son, John Spencer (Yvonne) Feavel; his sisters, Ione Laabs, Marjorie Schulz and Jean Richter; his sister-in-law, Altha (Don) Acord; and three brothers-in-law, Roland (Mary) Parker, Leo (Marjorie) Parker and John "Jack" (Doris) Parker.
    Memorial services will be at 4:00 p.m. Thursday, April 11, 2013, at WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME - TRI-COUNTY CHAPEL, 3212 S. Oneida Street, Menasha, with Chaplain Jordan Kuczwara officiating. Friends will be received at the funeral home from 4:00 p.m. until 6:00 p.m.
    Jack's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to the staff at The Heritage and Peabody Manor for their loving care.

    John Spencer Feavel, age 69, of the Town of Saxeville, passed away on Thursday, April 22, 2010, in Neenah. He was born on August 18, 1940, a son of John R. and Angela M. (nee Parker) Feavel. John was united in marriage to Yvonne D. Hendrickson on June 28, 1969, in Appleton, WI. John received his Bachelor of Science Degree in Correctional Administration in 1962 from the University of Wisconsin-Madison followed by a Masters Degree in Social Work. Early in his career John was a social worker at Fox Lake Correctional Institution and then as a Probation and Parole Agent in Appleton. In 1971, he was promoted to Unit Supervisor in Appleton and transferred to Waupaca in 1989, where he continued to work until his retirement in 1998. John served with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections for 36 years. John enjoyed hunting, fishing, traveling and, most recently, his grandchildren. John was also a proud and involved member of the Wisconsin Association of Lakes.
    John is survived by his daughter, Jennifer and (Douglas) Gieryn; grandchildren, Reed and Kelly Gieryn, all of Neenah; his parents, John "Jack" and Angela Feavel of Appleton; one brother, Jim (Patti) Feavel of Menasha; also by nieces, other relatives and special friends, John and Sandy Barket.
    John was preceded in death by his wife Yvonne on December 11, 2007.
    John's family will receive relatives and friends at Appleton Highland Memorial Park, 3131 N. Richmond Ave. in Appleton, on Tuesday, April 27, 2010, from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 2:00 p.m. Rev. Michael Huff will officiate. Entombment will be in the mausoleum.
    The family requests that in lieu of flowers, memorials in John's name may be directed to the Wisconsin Association of Lakes.
