Obituary:
Kaukauna - Ethel H. (Gerrits) Walker passed away on Sunday Dec. 17, 2017 at St. Elizabeth's Hospital after a brief illness. She was born Feb. 5, 1931, the daughter of William & Loretta Gerrits. She graduated from Kaukauna High School. On October 14, 1952 she married her prom king and the love of her life, Eugene A. Walker, at Holy Cross Church; she resided in Kaukauna until her passing.
Ethel enjoyed playing bridge with the girls for many decades & numerous other card games with both friends & family. She also loved playing bingo & spending time with her family. She made the world's best party mix & always made sure you never left her house hungry!
Ethel is survived by a son: Tom (Carmen) Walker of Iron Mountain, MI & daughter Sharie (Jim) Halverson of Lake Poygan; six grandchildren: Jason Walker, Chelsey (Mark) Stephenson, Leah (Kevin) Kamps, Cory (Kayla) Powell, Austin & Blake Halverson; three great-grandchildren: Corey Stephenson, Cade Powell & Arden Kamps. Ethel is further survived by two sisters: Lorraine Otto, Vy Dickrell & a brother: Richard (Delores) Gerrits, as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins & friends. She was preceded in death by her parents William & Loretta Gerrits, husband Eugene Walker, his parents Lila & Arden Walker, brother Mel Gerrits, brothers-in-law Richard "Pro" Walker, John Walker, Amby Dickrell, Gayland Otto, and daughter in-law Mary Walker.
The Memorial Mass for Ethel will be held at 12 noon, Thursday, December 21, 2017, at Holy Cross Catholic Church, 309 Desnoyer St., Kaukauna with Fr. Tom Pomeroy officiating. Interment will be in the parish cemetery. Friends may gather at the church on Thursday morning from 10:00 am until the time of service.
