Obituary:
Carol Birling, 86, Neenah, passed away December 8, 2016. She was born December 11, 1928, in Neenah, daughter of Clarence and Viola Hanson. On May 31, 1947, Carol married Harold Birling. Together they had 3 children; 2 sons: Jeff (Kathy), Hortonville; Dan ,Wausaukee; and a daughter: Chris, Appleton. Carol resided most of her life in Neenah until Harold's retirement when they moved to Wausaukee, WI and lived for several years until returning to Neenah. Carol had a green thumb and loved growing African violets and houseplants. She enjoyed the outdoors and taking the grandchildren camping. She loved animals, especially her beloved beagle dogs. Carol was a member of St. Mark Evangelical Lutheran Church, Neenah.
Carol is survived by her 3 children; grandchildren: Billie Jo Gross, Addie Mahoney, Jessica (Joe) Tillman, Heidi Delorey, Amber (Matt) Molle, Danielle Lewis, Nathan (Iva) Delorey, and Sean (Michelle) Delorey; great grandchildren: Olivia and Emily Gross; Jack Grafmeier and Iylee Mahoney; Madeline, Carson, Evelyn, and Joshua Molle; Oliver Delorey; 2 brothers-in-law and a sister-in law; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Carol was preceded in death by her husband; sister: Marilyn Glander; and brother: Rob Hanson.
Funeral services will be held 11:30 A.M. Monday, December 12, 2016, at the Kessler Funeral Home, 304 S. Commercial Street, Neenah, with Rev. Robert Wilkenson officiating. Visitation will be held Monday at the funeral from 10:00 a.m. until the time of the service. In lieu of flowers a memorial has been established for the American Diabetes Association , www.diabetes.org/donate.
Carol's family would like to thank the staff at Emerald Ridge Assisted Living and Peabody Manor for their compassionate care in Carol's final months.
