Obituary:
Helen Elizabeth Burns, age 94, formerly of Combined Locks, died on Thursday, December 30, 2010, at St. Francis Home. She was born in Clyman, WI, on June 29, 1916, the daughter of the late Paul and Mary (Fitzpatrick) Steinhoff. On August 23, 1941, she married her late husband, Patrick L. Burns at Holy Cross Catholic Church in Kaukauna. Residing in the Kaukauna/ Combined Locks area for over 50 years, Helen managed cost accounts in her role as a bookkeeper for the Combined Locks Paper Mill (now Appleton Coated). After retiring, Helen and Patrick were able to split time between Port Richie, FL, and Townsend, WI. She enjoyed sewing, gardening, playing cards, bird watching, fishing and spending time with family and friends. Helen will be missed for her quick wit, spirited conversations of news and current events and endearing enjoyment of her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Helen is survived by her son, Dennis (Anne) Burns of Fairfax, Virginia; daughters: Margaret "Peg" (Purl) Dietzman of Kohler and Mary (Bob) Greenewald of Florence, Arizona; grandchildren: Nicholas and Sarah Burns, Stacey (Dan) Meissner and Karin (Mike) Buckholdt, Shawn Strook and Teresa Jagodinski and seven great-grandchildren. Helen is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Helen was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Robert, her husband of 58 years, Patrick and many other family and friends.
The Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, January 8, 2011, at St. Paul Catholic Church, 410 Wallace Street, Combined Locks, with Fr. Andrew Kysely officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of Mass. The interment will take place at the parish cemetery.
