    Obituary:
Ruby E. Schwalenberg (Pautz) passed to eternal life on August 20, 2011 at Evergreen Retirement Community following a struggle with Lewy Body Disease. She was born July 10, 1920 in Reedsville WI to the late William and Frieda (Wiegert) Pautz. As a child she moved with her family to Hilbert WI where she was the valedictorian of the 1938 graduating class. On February 1, 1942 she married her high school sweetheart, Ruben A Schwalenberg at St Peters Lutheran Church in Hilbert WI. They were married for sixty-four years until his death on February 25, 2006.
She was one of the six original key punch operators who were employed by the Aid Association for Lutherans (now Thrivent) when that company became one of the first in the area to use IBM data processing equipment in the 1940s. She later was the secretary to the late Harold Council (A.W. Council and Co.) for twenty-four years, retiring in 1985.
For over forty years she pursued her hobby of genealogy, completing many books for her family with ancestral records from Germany, stories, letters and pictures. She also did research for other friends and family on request. Creating a family history was a labor of love and meant leaving a legacy for future generations.
She was a longtime member of Faith Lutheran Church in Appleton, and more recently was a member of All Saints Lutheran Church in Oshkosh.
She is survived by her daughters and sons-in-law Mary and John Groth, Platte City, MO and Carol and David Hinshaw, Oshkosh, WI, her dearly loved grandchildren Julie (Rod) Newberry, Paul (Kiaya) Groth, Jennifer (Jason) Brewer, Emily Hinshaw, and Amanda (Christopher) Sieg, and her special great grandchildren, Lauren (George) Kinsella, Brandon and Joshua Newberry, Trinity, Khyler and Madison Brewer, Sophia and Claira Groth, and one more great granddaughter expected in October. She is further survived by her sister, Ardis Picard of Green Bay, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Memorial gifts may be made to the Faith Lutheran Church Radio Ministry or the Pastor's Fund at All Saints Lutheran Church.
The family would like to thank the staff of Evergreen Retirement Community and Heartland Hospice for the kindness always shown to our mother. We were very touched by the many visits from staff during the last week and the kind words and memories that they shared. A special thank you also to Eunice of Heartland Hospice for her compassionate and gentle care.
Funeral services will be on Thursday, August 25, 2011 at 11:00 AM at All Saints Lutheran Church (1052 Honey Creek Dr.)with visitation from 10:00AM until the time of the service on Thursday and on Wednesday from 4:00 to 8:00 PM at Konrad-Behlman Funeral Home (Westside).
