    Obituary:
The King is gone. David J. Haferbecker left us on Thursday September 7, 2017. He leaves behind a huge space in all of our lives with his absence. Dave loved people and no matter where he went, he ran into someone he knew. Dave was all about family- his immediate family, his pub family and his extensive group of friends, all of whom he considered family.
Dave leaves behind an enormous, beloved family including his brothers, Timothy and Steven Haferbecker. His nieces, Trisha Haferbecker (Tatiana, Anthony, Trinity, Anyia, Bacari, Braydon) and Samantha Haferbecker with fiancé Justin Jatczak (Kane, Arlo & Sean). His special cousins Fay and Dick. His uncles Peter (Linda) Nicolais, Joe (Brenda) Nicolais, Michael Nicolais, Uncle Bob Mullen and Aunt Joann Nicolais and all of their extended families. Dave's wife Lisa's family that will also miss him includes, Patty Vollbrecht, Jan (Scott) Gilbertson, Danny (Dawn) Vollbrecht, Cheryl (John) Krueger, Lori (Scott Newling) Hanke and precious nieces and nephews.
Dave arrived here on January 20, 1958 and left us much too soon! Dave graduated from Appleton High School in 1976 where he played football and competed at State in wrestling. Dave worked for Keebler/Kellogg for 39 years until his retirement as a proud Teamster with Local 662.
Dave married "his little flower" Lisa Vollbrecht on 10/4/80. "Hey Lis" was his pet name for Lisa and they shared many MIS-adventures in their years together. They most recently saw the Total Eclipse with family in South Carolina and had a BLAST!
Dave loved food. The only things he didn't eat were radishes, cilantro, and beets. He always thought he could improve on a recipe (without ever getting out of his chair!) Dave never could get rid of something he thought he could use later. He was a "Jack of all Trades" and you could always count on him to help you. His heart was larger than his person. He recently helped Timmy rebuild his house up north. Dave was the connecting link for all of us and we are all joined together in our sorrow.
Dave is preceded in death by his parents, Jim and Pat Haferbecker, Aunt Lois Haferbecker, Aunt Mary Mullen, Grandma Mary Dobes, and his in-laws, Orlen and Betty Vollbrecht.
Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 16, 2017 from 10:00 am - 12:00 p.m. at Valley Funeral Home. The memorial service will begin at noon.
Dave could talk - nobody could argue that! The memories and stories will never end. So please come to celebrate Dave's life and share your stories. He will be laughing and smiling along with all of us.
