Mark W. Peterson, age 48, fought an enormous battle to overcome throat cancer, but was overcome on February 6, 2005.
Mark was a child of the '70s and he claimed this to be the best decade of his life. He loved rock 'n' roll and the blues music of this era. He will always be remembered for his fun-loving personality and loyalty to his friends. He was very fond of the outdoors and he loved camping and spending time with his brother Jim and sister-in-law Mary at their cabin in Shawano. He was also an avid fisherman and spent many hours with his friend Dave Harp at the "secret lake" last summer catching lunkers.
Mark has always been an animal lover and had a fascination with wolves. He also enjoyed his good buddies, his mother's cats, Reilly and Clancy who he termed "the goofers."
He is survived by his mother, Beverly R. Peterson of Appleton; a sister Kathleen and her husband Timothy McDonald of Greenville; a brother James and his wife Mary Peterson of Appleton. He is also survived by the nieces he loved dearly, Nicole Peterson and Kelly and Kasey McDonald. He is further survived by many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
Mark is preceded in death by his beloved father, Jack C. Peterson; his sister and best friend in the world, Ann J. Peterson; his paternal grandparents, Clarence and Hilda Peterson; and his maternal grandparents, Veronica and Carl Glander. He was also preceded in death by many friends including those he was closest to: Rick Penno, Joe McCarthy, and Robert Stelmach.
Services will be held at Mark's graveside at Appleton Highland Memorial Park at 10 a.m. on Thursday, February 10, 2005, with Father Gerald Falk officiating.
A special thanks to Dr. Guenther, the staff and volunteers at Cherry Meadows Hospice Center, and Chuck Collar, a good friend, for all their support in Mark's physical and emotional well being during this time in Mark's life when he and his family needed strength.
"If you believe in forever, then life is just a one night stand. If there's a rock 'n' roll Heaven, they've got to have a Helluva band!"
    Enjoy bud! We Love You,
    Ma, Pappy, and the Jimmer
