    Obituary:
    Glatz, Melvin Jerry "Mel"
Melvin Jerry Glatz, Fremont, passed peacefully to eternal life on December 10, 2007. Born on May 25, 1934, he is the son of the late Ed and Anna (Young) Glatz of Shiocton, WI. He married Audrey (Deimer) Glatz on May 12, 1956, at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Greenville, WI.
Mel is survived by his loving wife of fifty-one years, Audrey (Deimer) Glatz, three daughters: Bonnie Houlihan (Mike) of Cedarburg, WI; Debra Cleare (Scott) of Prosper, TX; and Jean Hornes (Blaine) of Neenah, WI, and seven grandchildren: Erin and Blaine Hornes; Meghan, Joseph, and Kelly Houlihan; and Reilly and Cayla Cleare. Additionally, he is survived by his brothers Lloyd (Roseanne) Glatz of Freedom, WI, and Roland Glatz of Shiocton, WI, sister-in-law Karen Gauthier, and brother-in-law Gary Deimer (Beverly).
After attending Shiocton High School, Mel had several careers. He worked at Kimberly-Clark's Lakeview mill for seventeen years. Leaving K-C in 1971, Mel became the proud owner of a "Big Mack" dump truck which he used to haul gravel until 1974. In 1975, Mel purchased the Butterfly Bar in Neenah which he operated for twenty-two years. In 1996, he permanently retired to his favorite home on the Wolf River in Fremont where he could fish, view bald eagles and watch boats racing on the river. In addition to working hard, Mel enjoyed captaining his pontoon boat, was an avid Packer fan, and loved following the athletic and academic pursuits of his grandchildren. He also loved to hunt, fish, play cards and exaggerate stories about all three. Always retaining a quick sense of humor, he was never at loss for a witty line or teasing remark. Mel was deeply loved and will be greatly missed by his family, and the many great friends with whom he was acquainted in life.
He was preceded in death by his parents Ed and Anna Glatz, Joseph and Marie Deimer, brother Merlin Glatz, and nephews Tom Glatz and Gregg Deimer.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, December 15, 2007, at 11:00 a.m, at St. Margaret Mary Catholic Church in Neenah with Fr. Michael Ingold officiating. Visitation will be on Friday at Neenah's Westgor Funeral Home from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m; and again on Saturday at the church from 10:00 a.m. until the time of service. Interment will be in St. Mary's Cemetery, Greenville. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established for Juvenile Diabetes Research Foundation.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the staff of Theda Clark Medical Center, especially the ICU, ER, 5th and 2nd floor nurses for their kindness and wonderful care of Mel.
