    Obituary:
Donald H. Zastrow, age 77, of Chilton, passed away on Tuesday, February 23, 2016, unexpectedly, but peacefully at home. Don was born October 15, 1938 to Edward Sr. & Ida (Dietz) Zastrow in Chilton. Don went to Chilton High School and enlisted in the US Air Force where he served from 1956 until 1960. Following his honorable discharge, Don married Judith Schmidt on July 21, 1962; together they enjoyed over 53 years of marriage and the blessings of their 3 children.
Don was employed as a foreman at Mirro / Foley in Chilton until he retired after 35 years of work and was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church in Chilton.
Throughout his life, Don was extremely passionate about hunting and fishing with his family. It brought him great joy the first time he was able to go on a deer hunt with his grandson. Don's face would light up and he became just as excited as a little child at Christmas at the mention of deer hunting.
Don knew he was blessed having been able to marry his best friend, Judy. He loved traveling the countryside with her to monitor what was transpiring throughout the area. These travels came in quite handy during the deer hunting seasons throughout the years, as he was able to relay deer movements to his family as they continued hunting. He and Judy also took many trips up north and spent time together traveling to various casinos throughout the state, and trips out west to Las Vegas and Utah.
Forever quick with a joke, Don never allowed any circumstance to become too serious. He always looked for ways to brighten people's days and made those around him feel comfortable and relaxed with his easy temperament. Don also planned his weekends around televised sporting events and enjoyed his time watching golf, basketball and football games, but also never passed up an opportunity to play a good game of Sheepshead. He cherished the moments he could spend with his family, no matter what they were doing; he especially loved being with them on Saturday mornings so they, too, could be attentive to the weekly Jerry Schneider Program on the radio.
Don will be greatly missed by those that knew him, and whose lives he touched. Survivors include his wife: Judy; his son: Doug (Pat) Zastrow, his daughters: Lisa (Mike Funk) Jodar with whom he shared a special bond with because they share the same birthday, Gail (Dean) Schabach; his grandchildren: Tony & Haley Zastrow, Cole Schabach and his special friend, Natalie Kolbe, Seth Schabach, McKenna Schabach, Matthew Tiffany and his special friend, Rebecca Juckem, Kassandra Jodar and her special friend Lisa Feaker, Bailee Jodar and her special friend, Nathan Reichwald, Conner Funk & Madison Funk; his siblings: Darlene Krause and her special friend, Keith Haus, Carol Kees, Edward (Carol) Zastrow, Shirley (Bill) Bankenbusch, Armend Zastrow, & Robert (Cathy) Zastrow; his good, lifelong friend and golf partner: Cliff Beil, and all of his Tuesday Morning Breakfast Boys and the girls at Hilde's Deli & Bakery. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Don was preceded in death by his parents: Edward Sr. & Ida Zastrow, his in-laws: Leander & Dorothy Schmidt; brothers-in-law: Lee Schmidt & Cletus Kees, nephews: Brian Kees & Terry Kees, Adam Schwalenberg and Bill Bankenbusch, Jr.
Funeral service will be at 11:00 am on Saturday, February 27 2016 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church (54 E. Main St.) in Chilton with the Rev. Ryan Krueger officiating. Friends may call at the Wieting Family Funeral Home (411 W. Main St.) in Chilton from 4:00 pm until 7:00 pm on Friday, February 26, 2016 and on Saturday at the funeral home from 9:00 am until 10:30 am when family prayers will be held. A parish vigil service will be held at the close of visitation at the funeral home on Friday evening.
