I searched the microfilm for May 8-11, 1904 St. Paul Dispatch (the evening edition) and the St. Paul Pioneer Press (morning and Sunday
edition) and I found an article in the May 9, 1904 St. Paul Dispatch, page 5. I will mail a copy of this article and the invoice to you. The article is very brief so I'll copy its text here:
"Hastened Father's Death
Suicide of James Cline Followed by Death of Martin Cline
Martin Cline, father of James Cline who committed suicide in the presence of his wife about a month ago, by drinking carbolic acid, died at the city hospital last night, his death having been hastened by his son's act. Cline was 75 years old. He was not in good health, and after his son's tragic death, failed rapidly. He lived at 954 Clark Street"

Note - 12/5/2011 email with Kris Matthies from Green Day Diocese on Cline baptismal record research:
For the oldest sibling, William, I have his civil marriage record, found in St Paul, MN in 1888. Where he was born in NY is still a mystery. I have his 1927 death certificate, and also have made contact with his descendants in Washington state. However, I see I never pursued his church marriage record, and the priest's name is on the civil record. That's a lead worth pursuing, and I sent a request to the Minnesota Historical Society this evening, who has many of the local diocese records on microfilm.

For Martin Cline's sponsors, what is your best guess on the names? The last names look like Macmurthy (or Macarthy) and Doyle, but the first names have me stumped. The first looks like Desryosio (probably not close) or a variant of Douglas, and the second looks like it's probably Helena (Helen or Ellen). "The first name is the Latin version of Dennis. I believe the last name is Macarthy. A quick check shows a Dennis McCarthy was married to a Margaret Tobin. The woman is Helen Doyle. Helen=Ellen."

Middle initial of F comes from 1900 Chicago census. Lists birth as Oct 1862, age 37. Six children listed, one deceased. Occupation Engineer. Address 2359 Jackson St Chicago, 12th precinct, 28th ward.

For Anastasia Cline, do you know if there are any death records at your archives? My assumption is that Anastasia died prior to the 1870 census. She is not listed with the family, and I've found no mention of her after that. "There are very few funeral records for that time period. I checked the St. John the Evangelist index and she is not listed there. I can check the actual records at Old St. Mary's in the future."

I do not find a funeral record for Anastasia at either St. John's or St. Willebrord's in Green Bay. She likely was buried from St. Patrick's in Fort Howard for which the records are missing.

Obituary:
Hastened Father's Death Suicide of James Cline Followed by Death of Martin Cline
Martin Cline, father of James Cline who committed suicide in the presence of his wife about a month ago, by drinking carbolic acid, died at the city hospital last night, his death having been hastened by his son's act. Cline was 75 years old. He was not in good health, and after his son's tragic death, failed rapidly. He lived at 954 Clark Street

I searched the April 1904 St. Paul Dispatch and found an article from April 19, 1904 entitled "Takes Life Before Wife: Sensational Suicide of James Cline Because She Would Not Return to Him: Struggle Over a Bottle:
Mrs. Cline Severely Burned by Carbolic Acid in Trying to Snatch the Vial". According to the article Mrs. Cline left Mr. Cline because he drank and abused her and then he tried to get her back and when she refused to come he drank the acid. I will put this article and an invoice in an envelope on Wednesday, December 26 and then it will probably take a few days before it gets to you.
