MADISON - Catherine F. Franken, age 93, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2003, at St. Mary's Care Center. She was born on Nov. 19, 1909, in Madison, the daughter of Charles and Katherine (Sachs) Boushad.
Catherine was valedictorian of her graduating class at East High School. She married Stephen W. Franken on Sept. 26, 1936. Catherine was a wonderful homemaker.
Her hobbies included needlework and crocheting. She was an avid reader and enjoyed worldwide traveling. She was a volunteer at St. Mary's Hospital for many years.
Survivors include two sons, William (Beth) Franken of Madison, and Dennis Franken of Raleigh, N.C.; a daughter, Lyn Mowafy of Gilbert, Ariz.; eight grandchildren, Scott, Cynthia, Susan, Stephen, Kirk, Denise, Sherri and Jessica; seven great-grandchildren, Savanna, Alyssa, Fiona, Max, Aiden, Samantha and Adam; a sister, Dorothea Maynard; and a brother, Wilfred Boushad.
Catherine was preceded in death by her husband, Stephen W. Franken; a daughter, Patricia Lynch; a sister, Bernadette Wilson; and a brother, Charles Boushad.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Friday, Oct. 3, 2003, at ST. THOMAS AQUINAS CATHOLIC CHURCH, 602 Everglade Drive, Madison, with Monsignor Terrence Connors officiating. Visitation will be held at 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church. Burial will be held at Forest Hill Cemetery.
