    Obituary:
    CONDUCT RITES FOR APPLETON VETERAN Neenah — Funeral services for Capt. John M. Baer, aged 91 years, Civil war veteran who was prominent in Appleton and Outagamie county and known to many in Neenah, were held at Ontario, Calif., Wednesday morning. The body will be taken to Appleton for burial in Riverside cemetery in the spring. Captain Baer died last Saturday at the home of his daughter, Mrs. Atta Groef, Ontario, where he had been living since he left Appleton about 10 years ago. He had held various Outagamie county offices and at one time was postmaster at Appleton. Survivors are one daughter. Mrs. Groef, and two sons, Edward Sherman Baer. Streator. 111., and John Baer Jr., Washington, D. C.. famous cartoonist and former member of congress from North Dakota.
