    Obituary:
    Herman G. Canisius passed away on Saturday, October 20, 2007, while at Hernando Hospice Care Center, Brooksville, FL. He was 91. Herman was born April 26, 1916, to Charles and Minnie (Muller) Mueller Canisius in Sheboygan, WI. He was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church, Sheboygan. His mother died when he was two years old. His father died when he was six years old. He spent the next ten years at Uhlich's Orphanage in Chicago. He graduated from Cleveland Grammar School and attended Lane Tech Manual Training School.
    He returned to Sheboygan to live with relatives, working at Enzo-Jel and Hand Knit. After a short time he moved to Appleton, WI. Herman started to work for Zwicker Knitting Mills in 1935 after having spent six months with the C.C.C. (Civilian Conservation Corp.). In 1946, he was promoted to foreman in charge of flat knitting and cutting department.
    He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II from 1942 - 1945, seeing service at: Great Lakes, Norfolk, Scotland, Dartmouth England and Marshall Islands. He took part in the Normandy Invasion. He was a Motor Machinist Mate First Class, in charge of diesel engine maintenance.
    Herman was married to Ramona Schultz, January 16, 1937. They lived on Glendale Ave. before moving to Pershing St. They were active in the Elks and the Manhattan Club. He and Mona moved to Brooksville, FL, in 1983. Mona passed away November 18, 2005.
    Besides his wife, Herman was preceded in death by his two sisters: Margaret Peters, Chicago; Dorothy Marr, Appleton and Osage, IA; four brothers: William, Edward, Howard, Sheboygan; and Carl, Chicago.
    He is survived by nieces and nephews and their families. They all referred to Herman as "Uncle Buddy."
    Herman was known for his little quips and his handy work and all-around help at Heather Walk Community.
    Burial at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell. Brewer and Sons Funeral Home assisted the family.
