Bruene W. Hattermann Jr., 80, Fremont passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2006, at his home. He was born Sept. 29, 1926, in Union Township, O'Brien County, Paullina, Iowa son of the late Bruene and Viola (Appeldorn) Hatterman Sr. He was drafted into the United States Army Sept. 19, 1945. After training in Texas he was stationed in Alaska and was discharged Dec. 13, 1946. He returned to Paullina and hired out to work on farms in the area. On Feb. 26, 1950, he married Marlene Ann Mesner, daughter of William & Theresa (Erickson) Mesner. They rented a 320 acre farm near Paullina, Iowa. Three years later they rented a farm near Chatsworth, Iowa where they farmed for six years. In 1958, they purchased a farm near Weyauwega, Wisc., where they farmed until retiring and selling the farm in 1975. They bought a cabin on the Wolf River near Orihula, Wisc. Later they bought a cabin on Partridge Lake near Fremont, sold the Orihula cabin and lived in the Fremont cabin on the lake. In 1978 they bought a home in Hardy, Ark. and spent the winter months in Arkansas and the summer months in Wisconsin. After retiring he enjoyed sharing God's word at nursing homes and jails in Wisconsin and Arkansas. Bruene is survived by his wife: Marlene; four children: Bruene Lynn (Sandy) Hattermann, Dale, Wisc.; Dean Alan (Julie) Hattermann, New London, Anita Jane (Mike) Tillman, Tenn.; David Lee (Joyce) Hattermann, Ark.; a brother, Edward (Norma) Hattermann, Paullina, Iowa; two sisters: Hazel Meyer, Iowa; Hilda (Eldor) Pauling, Ark.; 13 grandchildren; nine great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and a grandson, Bruene Fredrick. The funeral service for Bruene W. Hattermann will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2006, at Victory Church, E3443 Apple Tree Lane, Waupaca, Wisc., 54981, with Rev. Philip Thompson officiating. Burial will be in the West Prairie View Cemetery, Paullina, Iowa. Friends may call at the Cline-Hanson-Dahlke Funeral Home in Weyauwega, from 4 p.m.-8 p.m. Tuesday, where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. and at the church on Wednesday, from 9:30 a.m., until the time of the service. three brothers: Jason Hattermann, Clintonville; Chris Hattermann, Bear Creek; Matt (Amanda) Hattermann, Clintonville;
four sisters: Brenda Hattermann, Waupaca; Bobbi Olinger, Clintonville; Mary Hattermann, Appleton; Tanya Hattermann, Bear Creek;
his paternal grandparents, Bruene Jr. and Marlene Hattermann, Fremont;
maternal grandparents: Wayne (Shari) Schultz, Simi Valley, California and Lida Hampshire, New London.
Numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews other relatives and friends also survive Bruene.
