Hawkinson, Mary L.
Mary L. Hawkinson, 94, passed away on Tuesday, Sept. 16, 2008, at Rennes Health Center in Appleton. Mary was born in Appleton, on July 25, 1914, daughter of the late Clarence and Elizabeth (Berringer) Zelie. She married Charles J. Hawkinson on Feb. 14, 1953, in Tucson, Ariz. He preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 1989. Mary enjoyed traveling, as well as golf and socializing at Butte des Morts Country Club. Mary will be remembered as a dedicated daughter who cared for her aging parents and for being a loving wife, who took such good care of Chuck.
Survivors include her sister-in-law, Jane Zelie, Boulder, Colo.; three loving nephews, Craig (Jeana) Zelie, Yuba City, Calif., and their children, Jana Lynn and Mika Leigh; Drs. Stephen (Karen) Zeli, Golden, Colo., and their children, Joel and Clare Elizabeth; and Kenneth (Simme) Zelie, Boulder, Colo., and their children, Alexandra and Nicholas.
Memorial services for Mary will be held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, Sept. 30, 2008, at the Wichmann Funeral Home, 537 Superior Street. The Reverend Kurt Kovanen will officiate. Entombment will be in Highland Memorial Park, Appleton.
In lieu of flowers, a memorial fund in Mary's name is being established to benefit the American Cancer Society.
