Obituary:
Daniel A. Van Den Heuvel, 65, died Wednesday, Aug. 12, due to a bicycle accident. Dan was born on Sept. 14, 1943, to the late Anton and Mary (Curran) Van Den Heuvel.
Dan served in the Navy during the Vietnam War and than worked at Procter & Gamble as an electrician until his retirement. Dan and Liz Belongia were married Sept. 15, 1978. After his morning coffee and newspaper, Dan enjoyed biking, woodworking and volunteering, but the most important thing to him was doing things for his family.
Dan is survived by his wife, Liz; his children, Yvette Nelson, Christina (Robert) Toonen, Lance (Antoinette) Nelson, Zachary (Kara) Van Den Heuvel, and Skylene (Jason) Van Den Heuvel-Popp. Also surviving are his grandchildren, Raina, Nevada, Samantha, Melissa, Aaron, Casey, Amelia, Chase, Trent, and Blake; his brother, Pat (Mary) Van Den Heuvel; and sister, Jean (Harland) Lewis.
He was preceded in death by a son, Duane; brothers, Bob Van Den Heuvel, John Van Den Heuvel, James Van Den Heuvel; sisters, Rita Mc Millian, Genevieve Manders and their spouses.
Friends may call at Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 East Mason Street, from 4 to 7 p.m. Sunday. Parish Wake Service 6:30 p.m. Sunday at the Funeral Home. Visitation will continue Monday from 9 to 10 a.m. at the church. Mass of Christian Burial 10 a.m. at St. Phillip the Apostle Catholic Church, 312 Victoria Street, with the Rev.
