    ZANESVILLE, Ohio — Lawrence S. Leis, 65, of Orchard Park, Zanesville, Ohio, passed away at 2:40 a.m. Sunday, April 29, 2012, at his residence after a two year battle with cancer.
    Lawrence was born Aug. 23, 1946, in Zanesville, the son of the late Anton and Marjorie (Balanski) Leis.
    Lawrence was a project manager for Woodstone Energy, he was a member of the American Legion Post #0029 in Zanesville, and he served his country in the U.S. Marine Corps during the Vietnam Era.
    Lawrence is survived by his wife, Louella (Thomas) Leis, whom he married May 1, 2004; two sons, Matthew (Stephanie) Leis and Alex (Jenny) Leis both of Iowa; one daughter, Briana (Brian) Silverio of Iowa; a stepson, Donnie Thomas of Zanesville; one sister, Barbara (David) Babcock; and nine grandchildren, Stefanee Leis, Brittany Silverio, Holly Stauffer, Maggie Peterson, Ayreona Leis, Amelia Leis, Valerie Leis, Anthony Leis and Jordan Lancaster.
    Visitations will be from 5 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the Farus Funeral Home, Duncan Falls, Ohio. Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Alice Baldwin officiating. Lawrence will be laid to rest in Duncan Falls Cemetery with full military honors provided by the U.S. Marine Corps Color Guard and VFW Post #1058.
    Memorial contributions may be made to American Legion Post #29, 27 South Third St., Zanesville, Ohio 43701.
