    Richard M. "Dick" Vanden Heuvel, 71, formerly of Green Bay, died Friday, April 11, 2008 in Taylor, Arizona. He was born July 30th, 1936 in Bellevue to Margaret and the late Clarence "Cat" Vanden Heuvel. Dick attended Catholic Central High School and shortly after graduation entered the U.S. Marine Corps. Upon completion of his military service, he operated the family dairy farm. He moved his family to Dyckesville where they owned and operated Van Dyke Lanes bowling alley for 20 years. In 1985 Dick moved to Arizona and established the Red Onion Restaurant and Lounge in Phoenix. He later opened a second Red Onion in Heber, Arizona. Dick´s latest business venture was the roadside Red Onion Burger Wagon which could be seen on the streets of Taylor, Arizona. Dick married Cris Huron on March 20, 1998. They recently celebrated their 10 year wedding anniversary. They enjoyed spending time together at home with their three puppies. Besides being a true entrepreneur, Dick enjoyed flying and was a pilot for over 40 years. He had many interests including, gardening and woodworking. He loved to read and was also a great story teller with a terrific sense of humor. Dick is survived by his wife, Cris; His children, Guy (Katie), Denmark; Ric, Green Bay; Lee and his fiancé Shannon, Rosier; Lori (Steve) Gray, East Flat Rock, NC; Geri Mleziva, Green Bay; Jon (Sharon) Phoenix, AZ; Kit, Green Bay; and Job (Jackie), Austrailia; 15 grandchildren, Ricki, Jason, Michael, Elisabeth, Rebekah, Jonathan, Abigail, Alex, Stephanie, Paige, Tyler, Jonah, Daniel, Olivia and Martina Rose. He is also survived by his first wife and mother of his children, Sharon Routheau. He is further survived by his mother, Margaret Vanden Heuvel; two sisters, Judy Van Caster, DePere and Robin (Ron) Safford, Marshfield; two brothers, Marty (Diane) and Mike (Sandy) all of Bellevue; special brother-in-law Robert "Corky" King; his sister-in-law, Barb Vanden Heuvel, FL; nieces and nephews; step-daughter, Wendy (Brad) Heileman, AZ. He was preceded in death by a son, Jay; his father Clarence "Cat"; his brother Ron "Fuzz"; his brother-in-law Ron Van Caster; and his father-in-law Herbert Wheeler. Friends may call at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home, 1630 E. Mason St., after 9 AM Saturday, May 3, 2008 until time of service. Memorial service 11:30 AM Saturday at the funeral home. Burial in St. Louis Church Cemetery, Dyckesville. Online condolences may be sent to the Vanden Heuvel family at www.prokowall.com. Dick´s family would like to extend their sincere gratitude to Cris for taking such wonderful care of Dick. It will always be remembered. In lieu of other expressions of sympathy a memorial fund has been established in Dick´s name.
