    Vandenberg, Wilbert C.Wilbert C. Vandenberg, age 95, of Appleton, died Sunday evening, Decemb er 4, 2005, following a brief illness. He was born February 27, 1910, to t he late Albert and Nellie (Hurkman) Vandenberg, in Little Chute, whe re he graduated from High School. Bill married Lila Radtke, January 24, 19 42, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, Appleton. He was the assistant abstract or for Outagamie County Register of Deeds before the war. Bill served wi th the U.S. Army during World War II, and saw duty in Australia and New Gu inea. Following the war he was made abstractor for the Register of Deeds u ntil his retirement in 1975. Bill loved to play golf and travel with Lil a. He was a member of St. Thomas More Catholic Church, the Jacob Coppus Am erican Legion Post #258, Little Chute and the Knights of Columbus.He is survived by a sister, Elva Dorn, Appleton; a sister-in-law, Margar et Radtke, Appleton; and many loving nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his wife, Lila Vandenberg, November 12, 200 4, three brothers: Joe (Marie) Vandenberg, Norb (Margaret) Vandenberg, Arn old (Annabell) Vandenberg; three sisters: Mabel (Arn) Bongers, Lorraine (J ames) McInnis, Hattie (Herb) Hermsen; three brothers-in-law: Gordon (Blanc he) Radtke, Ralph Radtke and Herb Dorn.The funeral liturgy for Wilbert will be held at 11 a.m., Wednesday, Decemb er 7, 2005, at ST. THOMAS MORE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1810 North McDonald Stree t, with Father Gerald Falk officiating. Entombment will be in Appleton Hig hland Memorial Park. Friends may call at the church on Wednesday, fr om 10 a.m., until the time of the mass. In lieu of flowers a memorial fu nd is being established for St. Thomas More Catholic Church.The family would like to thank the staffs of Renaissance Assisted Living a nd Rennes Health Center for their loving and dedicated care of Bill.WICHMANN FUNERAL HOME 537 North Superior Street Appleton 920-739-1231
