    Obituary:
    Jane F. Romenesko, Little Chute, age 83, was called to the Lord with her family by her side Wednesday, March 2, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Hospital. She was born in Little Chute on May 26, 1932 to the late John and Phyllis (Bauman) Smits. Jane married the love of her life and inseparable partner, Eugene Romenesko, on February 6, 1952 at Holy Spirit Parish in Kimberly. He preceded her in death on March 14, 2009.
    Jane was a devoted mother of eleven children, and together with Gene, they became active members of St. John's parish and raised the kids with a strong catholic faith. On any given Sunday they could be seen filing into church in their Sunday best.
    Jane was a devoted wife, mother and grandmother. With her unselfish love she was the glue that held the family together. As a young wife and mother much of Jane's time was spent supporting Gene as he started and advanced his many business ventures. Jane's partnership and sacrifice were essential to Gene's success and "Mom's" love and devotion to "Dad" and her family were inspiring.
    Together Mom and Dad were blessed with many family and friends that they enjoyed spending time with boating, golfing and traveling. Summers were often spent with weekends at the family cottage, first on Alpine Lake and later Lake Poygan. Mom especially loved the summer holidays when all the kids and grandkids would come up for the extended weekends. For Mom, these weekends were a lot of work, but for her it was a labor of love. Nothing made her happier than to see her family together. They also looked forward to attending their children's and grandchildren's many sporting events and activities, always staying until the end to provide a word of encouragement and a dollar for support.
    Later in life Mom and Dad spent time at their winter condo in Venice, Florida where they would enjoy catching up with old friends, taking drives and spending time "down by the jetty". After Dad's passing, Mom remained devoted to her family and remained social with her many friends as well as going out for lunch and dinner with family. She would also find great comfort and joy in feeding the many birds, deer and other animals who would visit her backyard.
    Jane is survived by 9 of her 11 children: Pat (Marv) Janssen, Little Chute; Mike (Gail), Little Chute; Jerry (Bev), Kimberly; Tom (Carol), Kaukauna; Jack (Sandy), Kaukauna; Jill (Ron) Tiedt, Little Chute; Dan (Mary), Little Chute; Dave (Kim), Little Chute; and Jan (Troy) Hietpas, Little Chute; daughter-in-law: Polly Romenesko, Kaukauna; 31 grandchildren: Shawna (Kevin) Kerrigan, Travis (Sarah), Jessica and Aaron (Becky) Janssen, Brittany (Jeff) Farber, Brooke (Scott) Tuska, Chelsea (Dan) Gostisha, Blake, Eric (Kim), Scott (Jamie), Tami and Matt (Jenny) Romenesko, Stacey (Tony) Vanden Boogard, Amy (Jeff) Schechterle, Carly and Natalie Romenesko, Dacia (Eric) Hermes, Melissa (Scott) Barribeau, Tricia (Zack) Bons, Patrick Tiedt, Megan (Tim) McMahon, Emily (Matt) Hietpas, Michael and Tyler (Lisa) Romenesko, Marki (Mark) Forstner, Kirsti, Katie, Nicholas (Beth) and Melani Romenesko, Derek and Samuel Hietpas; 28 great grandchildren; brothers and sisters: Carol Wulterkens, Joyce (Jim) Williams, Ken (Jan) and Florian (Grace) Smits; brothers and sisters-in-law: Phyllis Smits, Don (Barb) Romenesko, Carol Tourville, Mary Mahn, Jim (Sue) Romenesko, Alice (Roger) Wynboom and Carl (Alice) Romenesko;
    In addition to her parents and husband, Gene, Jane was preceded in death by her sons: Ron and Don; brothers: Sonny (infant), Jack and Ron Smits; father and mother-in-law: Leonard and Geraldine Romenesko; and brothers-in-law: Hank Wulterkens, Claude Tourville and Don Mahn.

    Visitation will be held Monday, March 7, 2016 at ST. JOHN NEPOMUCENE CATHOLIC CHURCH (323 Pine St. Little Chute) beginning at 2:00 p.m. until time of Mass at 5:00 p.m. The Rev. Ronald Belitz will officiate. Committal St. John Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, a memorial is being established. To sign the guest book, please visit oconnellfh.com.
    The family would like to express a heartfelt thanks to Doctor Mounajjed and the staff on the second floor at St. Elizabeth Hospital for all their special care. And a special thanks to Clare Janssen for being a close, loving, and supportive friend to Mom in recent years.

    Obituary:
    Marilyn Minten, age 79 of Combined Locks, passed away peacefully on Monday evening, December 19, 2016. Marilyn was born in Appleton on November 8, 1937, daughter of the late Joseph and Waltera (Van Nuland) Smits. On October 2 of 1958, she married Jerry Minten, and the couple was blessed with four children: Cindy (Tom) McMahon of Little Chute; Tracey (Paul) Van Hoof of Dexter, Michigan; Jeff (Deanna) Minten of Kimberly; and Brian (Cindy) Minten of Green Bay. Marilyn's grandchildren are Brad (Angie) McMahon, Jill (Tim) Verstegen, Tim (Megan) McMahon, Jacob Van Hoof, Morgan Van Hoof, Courtney Minten, Zachary Minten, Jordyn (Bradley) Frank, and Brianna (Scott) Van Haaster. Her great-grandchildren are: Layton, Taylor, and Bennett McMahon; Luke and Evie Verstegen; Elouise McMahon; Audey and Austyn Frank; Cooper Van Haaster, and one addition expected very soon! Marilyn is further survived by a sister: Janice (Ed) Fuhrman of Hazelhurst; a brother: Marvin (Carol) Smits of Appleton; three sisters-in-law: Joan Hammen of Combined Locks, Nancy (Clair) Bolwerk of Kimberly, and Janice Minten of Darboy; a brother-in-law: Dave (Carolyn) Minten of DePere; and an uncle: Cyril (Norma) Van Heeswyk of Arizona. She was preceded in death by her parents, and brothers-in-law Gene Minten and Ronald Hammen.
    For many years, Marilyn taught second grade religion at St. Paul School in Combined Locks. There she made some wonderful and lifelong friends. She enjoyed crafts such as ceramics and painting, reading, and shopping. In her younger years, the family spent time camping near Minocqua and an occasional visit to a casino, but after Jerry's retirement, the couple began to travel to Florida. One of her fondest memories was her trip to see Clay Aiken's concert – for sure she was a "Clay-mate"! Most of all, she was her grandkids' greatest supporter and biggest fan. She spent countless hours watching them play football, basketball, volleyball, and rugby or admire their ability to wrestle, run cross country, or dance. The grandkids loved it when she was in the audience. Marilyn was very proud of the fact that she got her driver's license at age 50 – no matter she didn't drive much anyway – she was proud to have gotten her license. Her nickname quickly became "Wheels" when she received her license. Each day, she looked forward to coffee and discussion with her dear friend, Alice Ahrens.
    The funeral liturgy for Marilyn will be held at 11:00 AM on Friday, December 23, 2016 at ST. PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 410 E. Wallace Street in Combined Locks, with Fr. Andrew Kysely officiating. Family and friends are invited to gather at the church on Friday morning from 9:00 AM until the hour of the service. For more information or to share a memory of Marilyn, please visit www.wichmannfargo.com.
    It is so fitting that Marilyn was called home to Jesus at Christmas time. It was her favorite time of year. Marilyn was not shy about gifts for the family. Each Christmas, parents needed to take the kids out for a drive to look at Christmas lights, just to buy grandma enough time to haul the many bags filled with presents downstairs and place them around the tree. She was proud of her Christmas Village, which she set up and lit up each Christmas. When the grandchildren were young, she loved to share the village with them. As the grandchildren got a bit older, they were permitted to help Marilyn set the village up – an event eagerly awaited by all. There's a famous song that includes the words "there's no place like home for the holidays….." This year, Marilyn really is HOME for the holidays and we will all miss her dearly.

    Marilyn married Minten, Gerald (son of Minten, John and Smits, Norma Wilhelmina) [Group Sheet]
