    Mary B. (Vander Wyst) Johnson, 56, Green Bay, passed away April 21, 2016, at Bayshore Village Nursing Home. Mary passed away peacefully, surrounded by her family, after a 22-year battle with ALS.
    Mary was born Nov. 16, 1959, in Little Chute, Wis., to Richard and Carol (Schommer) Vander Wyst. She moved to Green Bay in 1975 and was a 1978 graduate from Preble High School, where she excelled on the gymnastics team. Mary earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Electronic Communication from UW-Oshkosh in 1983. She worked at Ponderosa Steakhouse during high school and college and later worked at WLUK-TV and Riviera Lanes Bowling Alley.
    Mary was a wonderful mother and loved spending time with her grandchildren. She inspired those around her with her remarkable strength and determination. Mary was a constant source of support for her kids and other family members, as well as many friends.
    Mary is survived by her three children, Nathan Johnson, Hannah (Jamie) O'Brien, and Alex (Samantha) Johnson, all of Green Bay; four grandchildren, Autumn and Morgan Johnson, and Evelyn and Declan O'Brien; mother, Carol Vander Wyst; sisters, Kay Dehn, Sue Bischel (Royce Finne), and Amy (Dave) Powers; brother, Rick (Mary) Vander Wyst; as well as dear friend, Cassandra (Kyle) Conard. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends, as well as many aides and nurses who cared for her over the years.
    Mary was preceded in death by her father, Richard Vander Wyst, and brother-in-law, Dennis Dehn.
    A Memorial Service to celebrate Mary's life will be held at 4:30 p.m. Tuesday, April 26, 2016, at the Cassandra Voss Center, 311 Grant St., De Pere, with the Rev. Andrew Dominic Ciferni, O.Praem, officiating. Relatives and friends may gather at the center on Tuesday from 2:30 p.m. until the time of service.
