    Obituary:
    Arneson, Ethel Theresa (Hauser)
Ethel Arneson, age 83, of Appleton, entered eternal life peacefully Sunday, June 8, 2008, at Rennes Health Center in Appleton. Ethel was born September 7, 1924, to the late Michael and Lorretta (Jonen) Hauser. She resided in Appleton all of her life and was a graduate of Appleton High School class of 1942. On February 20, 1943, Ethel was united in marriage to Victor Arneson in Miami, Florida, sharing 59 years together before his death in 2002. Ethel was employed by Kimberly Clark at the Atlas Mill for 25 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of St. Pius X Catholic Church of Appleton and enjoyed doing volunteer work in the community.
Ethel treasured time with her grandchildren and enjoyed stimulating the local economy through visits to the casino. Ethel single-handedly kept squirrels, carousing chipmunks and hooligan children on their toes with steady fire from her pellet gun. She could be heard for miles around "Caw, Caw, Cawing" to the crows. Ethel's pride and joy was her husband Victor and she doted on him until his final days. If you stopped at the family homestead, Ethel would mix you a cocktail, whether she liked you or not, and regale you with instructions on how to properly affix your undergarments. Through the course of her storied life, Ethel created more homespun phrases than one would hear from Norm in an episode of Cheers. "But more on that in two and two, Darlin." Holidays were always special at Ethel's house. What great fun the family would have listening to the stories and eating homemade candy. Good memories.
Ethel is survived by three children: Linda (Jim) Wagnitz, Porterfield, WI.; Mike (Katelyn) Arneson, Sturgis, SD.; Kathy (Tim) McGuire, Appleton; grandchildren: Heather (Joe) Donati, Kellie Hillers and her special friend Jason, Andrew McGuire and his special friend Jaci, Marcus McGuire and his special friend Brittany, David (Angie) Arneson, Christopher (Bobbie) Arneson, Kevin and Shena Arneson, Amanda Obermeier (Cal Xiong), and Douglas Obermeier; great-grandchildren: Savannah Donati, Logan Arneson, and Collin Xiong; a brother Larry (Lou) Hauser of Lake Placid, FL., also nieces and nephews including Ron and Harold (Nancy) Hauser.
In addition to her parents and husband, Ethel was preceded in death by a son Stephen V. Arneson, a brother Robert Hauser, a sister Lois Murphy, and a brother-in-law and sister- in-law LeRoy and Shirley Arneson.
The Mass of Resurrection will be celebrated 11:30 a.m. Wednesday, June 11th at St. Pius X Catholic church, 500 W. Marquette St., with Fr. Quinn Mann officiating. Friends will be received directly at the church from 9:30 a.m. Wednesday until the time of the service. Ethel will be laid to rest at Highland Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers a memorial fund has been established.
Ethel's family would like to thank the members of ThedaCare Hospice and the staff at Rennes Health Care Center for the excellent care and support over the last few months.
Even though the smile is gone the memories remain. Raise a toast to a life well-lived ...
