  LaVern Ruth Schuh, age 91, passed away peacefully with her family by her side on October 19, 2009. She was born in the Town of Bovina on April 23, 1918, the daughter of the late Christian and Ruth (Helser) Puls. After her mother's passing when LaVern was 6 months old, she was lovingly raised by her late aunt and uncle, Andrew and Pauline Herman, who cared for her all her life. LaVern graduated from Shiocton High School and then married Sylvester Schuh in 1937. They were married for 46 years until Sylvester's death in 1983. LaVern worked for J.C. Penney for many years until her retirement in 1988. LaVern was dedicated to her family and enjoyed the times they spent together. LaVern will be sadly missed by her children: Doris (Gene) Gilbert, Jan (Ron) Conrad, Don Schuh, Connie (Tom) Latimer, Lisa (Eric) Kramer; grandchildren: Kari (Mark) Waselchuk, Jenni (Tom) Crabb, Meg (Jon) Pendleton, Paul (Missy) Gilbert, Kelly Conrad, Molly Conrad, Michael (Rebecca) Conrad, Gina Latimer, Eric (Chelsey) Latimer, J.R. Hendrickson, Matt Hendrickson; great-grandchildren: Emily and Andy Waselchuk, Sam and Max Crabb, Anna, Jack and Kate Pendleton, Lily Gilbert, Bailie, Blayden, and Christian Conrad. LaVern is further survived by her sister-in-law, Elaine Brandt. LaVern is preceded in death by her sisters and brothers. A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, October 23, 2009, at ST. PIUS X CATHOLIC CHURCH, 500 W. Marquette Street, Appleton, with Fr. Andrew Kysely officiating. Friends will be received at the church from 9 a.m. until the time of mass. LaVern's family would like to extend a sincere thank you to all the staff at Grand Horizons, where LaVern made her home for the last year and a half.
