2	1793	1793: Kaukauna History First recorded sale of land in Wisconsin occurs when Dominique DuCharme buys 1,282 acres of land that is today\'s Kaukauna from Wapisipine and Le Black Tobacco for two barrels of rum.
3	1795	1795: Kaukauna History At this time, Kakalin was a village of over 1,500 inhabitants, mostly Indians and French-Indian traders. One resident is Dan McCrea, a Scotsman married to a Menominee woman, and whose daughter, Nancy would become Augustine\'s wife. 1795: Kaukauna History Pierre Grignon dies, and his son, Augustin, takes charge of the trading post.

5	1801	1801: USA History Third President of the US is Thomas Jefferson 1801-1809
6	1805	1805: Kaukauna History Augustin Grignon and Nancy McCrea are married.

8	1812	1812: USA History War of 1812 begins 1812: Kaukauna History Paul Ducharme leaves Kaukauna for Green Bay because of the uncertainties of the War of 1812
9	1813	1813: Kaukauna History Paul Ducharme sells a portion of the land in Kaukauna, including Dominique\'s cabin to Augustin Grignon. 1813: Kaukauna History Augustine Grignon actually settles in Kaukauna to join his wife, Nancy McCrea, and their children
10	1814	1814: Kaukauna History Treaty of Ghent signed December 24th, ends British rule in Wisconsin.
11	1816	1816: Kaukauna History Augustin Grignon builds a grist mill on his property, and a sawmill shortly after.
12	1817	1817: USA History Fifth President of the US is James Monroe 1817-1825
13	1818	26 Oct 1818: Wisconsin History October 26, 1818: Wisconsin was divided into three counties when it was part of the Michigan Territory. The northern county was named Michilimackinac County, the eastern county was named Brown County and the western county was named Crawford County.
14	1822	1822: Appleton History Eleazar Williams led a group of New York Indians to their new reservation west of Green Bay. 1822: Kaukauna History The Stockbridge and Munee tribes settle on the south side of the river at Statesburg.
15	1824	1824: Kaukauna History the first real road to be opened in Wisconsin was laid out in 1824 along the east side of the Fox, from Green Bay to Kaukauna.
